Here are a few more pics with commentary.

The War Room (Dining Room)

The War Room
Radiator, ceiling, final coat of paint and this room is done, we are hoping that a good vacuum will sort out the rescued parquet for the time being, some of it isn't too secure and I am sure running a sander over it would send those tiny blocks flying in all directions!

Freshly Cleared Patio
Wow, look what the mums did! We now have a proper patio area, unfortunately we still have one or two stubborn stumps which have had 27 (yes 27) years to get established, but nothing too dire. I am very pleased with the old street lamp - they have identical ones outside Cardiff Castle, with the big glass tops still attached ... tempting ...

Freshly Plastered Lounge 1 & 2
These are not good pictures as I have no flash on my digital camera. Basically the room is a very calming pink having had a final layer of plaster a few weeks ago. We still have two radiators to go in here, the ceiling needs skimming and we have to design a fire place to go round the gaping hole in the wall. Philip has decided to use an old pew, out of the chapel his father bought and pulled down many years ago, as a mantel shelf and has also bought some porcelain tiles, I am leaving the whole fire place to him given his rather legendary reputation for firestarting. I can't wait to see the finished result.

Bathroom

Nearly a Proper Bathroom
Ahhhhh, a loo, a sink ... heaven! We are yet to fit the bath as the room still has to be tiled.

New Back Door
We have a new back door, and a new front door - I have locked myself out of both!

Spotlights in the Kitchen

Spotlights in the Kitchen
These lights were recommended by (Two) Tone (Philip's cousin Anthony) who rewired our house. They're brill. For the record that sink unit and rather sad bit of work surface isn't my new kitchen - its a temporary solution to making tea on an industrial stove in the bedroom!!

The Back of the House
Once again Philip has been making the house look patchy with stabilising solution. The reason it is only white in patches is Philip was using a compressor in high wind, once his ladder got blown over, then the protective covering over the PVC windows blew off, then the wheel fell off his compressor (!), then he gave up.

The Third Toilet

The Third Toilet
We have three very nice toilets, one in the bathroom upstairs, one in the cloakroom downstairs, and one sort of loitering by the kitchen door ...

Freshly Cleared Lawn
Wow, look what the mums also did! I have used the term lawn in a very loose fashion here, there is not much grass and an awful lot of bramble roots, but Philip has high hopes and a rotorvator. For his birthday last year Philip's mum bought him a Briggs and Stratton petrol lawn mower. We have about 3m sq of lawn at Trem Powys and Philip is very excited about having a lawn he can mow in more than two minutes flat. (Yeah, it beats me too!)

Wall Lights in the War Room
Ooooh there's exciting! I can't say I have ever been so pleased to switch lights on as I was when Tony fitted these lights, the first in the house following the renovation.
