Hi Adrienne, Being an actress and obviously being envied by a lot of women, do you find that girls get jealous of you, especially the ones that you used to know before you became famous? as well as your friends? I just wonder what happens to the girls who are out there in the spotlight. -- Joelle
Adrienne Frantz: I don't really stay in touch with that many people from before I was on TV, because nobody really believed that I was going to make it as an actress. So I basically said, "See ya later! Buh-bye! I don't care, I don’t need someone like you in my life." Really the only person I've kept up with is my best friend, who has been my best friend since I was a little girl. But to answer the question, most women hate me. (Laughs) Really, they hate me! But I don't really care. I'm like, "You hate me? Do I care? That's your negative thoughts just being wasted on me, because I don't really care." I have no use in my life for that kind of person.
Hi! I love the show and just wanted to know how you stay in great shape considering your hectic work schedule. -- JJ
Adrienne Frantz: I never worked out before except for the last two days I decided that I was just going to attempt working out! I've actually gone on the treadmill for the past two days for a half hour, running two and a half miles. I was pretty impressed that I was in such good shape given that I never work out! I don't know how I've stayed in such good shape, but now I am going to work on it because I want a killer, killer body. I want to wear a bikini and feel great about how I look!
Adrienne, I am your biggest fan. I am going to have my dad drive me 10 hours to meet you at the B&B luncheon. Who would you like to see Amber with: C.J., Rick, Ash, or hey, maybe Thorne? LOL -- Amber (yes, that's my real name)
Adrienne Frantz: Thank you for your enthusiasm! I look forward to meeting you at the luncheon. As for who I'd like to see Amber with, I don't know… Probably Rick. Everybody seems to want Amber with Rick, so I'm going to side with the fans on this one.
Do you miss playing Tiffany on Sunset Beach? -- Sara
Adrienne Frantz: I had fun playing Tiffany, but because Amber is a far more complex character, she's a lot more fun to play than Tiffany. They never really gave Tiffany anywhere to go. She was a one-dimensional character, which is hard to play day after day. I wanted something to work with, some type of storyline, that would help me develop her. But the second I went onto B&B, I got an amazing storyline, and that's much cooler.
Hi Adrienne, Hope things are going well for you on The Bold & The Beautiful. I met John Rzeznik only once, but the impression that he made was a good one. He seems to be a wonderful person and very sincere. He cares about his fans, especially those less fortunate. I wish you happiness in your relationship with him.
So my question is . . . "Are you sick of Goo Goo Dolls fans asking you questions about John?" (lol) -- Melissa
Adrienne Frantz: Yes! (Laughs) I like to keep my personal life very personal… I have my life and he has his life and I just like to keep it private.
If you could match your personality to an animal, which animal would say best matches your personality and why? And just for fun, what is your favorite flavor JELL-O? -- Janet
Adrienne Frantz: A cat best matches my personality because I never know what I'm going to do next, you know? I'm always surprised by myself when I do things, and cats are very unpredictable. And cats always seem to know how to go about getting what they want! LOL
As for JELL-O, well, I don't like JELL-O! I don't know why… I think I heard a horror story about it when I was a kid or something. I like JELL-O chocolate pudding, but that's about it!
To Adrienne, Hello from Australia! Have you enjoyed playing the character of Amber when she is doing wrong or when she is in the right? And another question, when are we going to see your lovely self in a movie at the theatres or hear you in your album? I love your voice! -- Jerry
Adrienne Frantz:
I enjoy her more when she's in the wrong because it gives me something to play, something fun to play. Nobody likes being the good girl! As for your second question, thank you for the compliment, and look for me soon, because there are some things in the works right now, some projects I'm working on.
I'm 16 and I want to be an actress on a soap opera. What is your advice about how I can achieve my goal of being a soap star? -- Joann
Adrienne Frantz: Here's my advice: Work hard, take acting classes, and don't let anybody tell you that you can't do it and that you suck! People told me that and I just kind of laughed at them. Just follow your dreams, because you're the only one that can make your dreams come true. No one is going to do it for you.
Nearly all your scenes these days have you holding baby Eric in your arms. Is it hard working with an actor that young? -- Jennie
Adrienne Frantz:
Yeah, it's hard, because he's gaining weight! You want to know how I stay so thin? It's because I'm always carrying around a 30-pound baby! I've gotten so used to holding the twins and now they're so heavy! They know me so well because I've been holding them since they were two weeks old; we're very used to each other. But they'll pull my hair or try to pick my nose during scenes. They've shoved food up my nose during scenes… It's so funny, I've really had everything happen to me with these babies! I had them pee on me before. One of the babies didn't have a diaper on and I was supposed to be changing him on the bed, and he peed all the way up my arm. (Laughs) But I do like working with the babies. And it's given me a little bit of practice, not that I plan on having babies anytime in the near future! I'm only 22!
Is it true that you and Marissa Tait (Becky Moore) were really good friends? Do the two of you stay in touch? Also, who is your best friend on the set? -- Robin
Adrienne Frantz: Yes, Marissa is one of my best friends and we hang out all the time. I was just on hiatus for a week and we hung out all the time. She actually comes over to my house almost every night and we hang out and have fun. Marissa was my best friend on the set, but now that she's gone, I would say that Justin Torkildsen (Rick) and Sarah Buxton (Morgan) and Susan Flannery (Stephanie) are my best buds on the set.
Adrienne, your character has gone through so much devastation lately, and it seems like she cries ALL THE TIME. How do you do that so often? Do you use drops, rely on memories, or what? -- Samantha
Adrienne Frantz: I use a technique called substitution, which is when you take something from your personal life that makes you cry and you stick it into the scene. Needless to say, I have to use substitution a lot as Amber! She does cry quite a bit!
Adrienne Frantz, as Amber Moore
This is your first Emmy Award nomination. How has the experience met your expectations so far?
Oh, it's absolutely amazing to me. Being nominated for an Emmy is something that you dream of …when you're growing up, a little girl watching the Emmys going, 'Oh, I want to be nominated one day.' And I never thought it would happen when I was 21. So this is far beyond my expectation. I'm just absolutely blown over and so happy!
Can you give me a sense of what it been like with people congratulating you and designers trying to get you to wear their creations?
It's kind of like being Cinderella, working for something and having this dream in your head and it actually coming true...Having the designers calling saying, 'We want you to wear this dress or this dress.' And now I have Eurisa Katsura designing my dress for me. I just think that's amazing. That a designer is actually designing a dress for me. This amazing designer. And the shoes and the jewelry and everything. I feel like Cinderella. I feel like my character's going to turn into a pumpkin at midnight, so I have to enjoy it until then.
What's it been like going to work every day since the nomination? How do you stay grounded?
Well, see, that's the thing with me. I've never turned into one of those horrible Hollywood people who's really pretentious and not myself anymore. I've always been me. I think the staying grounded part is very simple for me because I've always been this way… and I just happened to get nominated.
Getting to the work itself, when you arrive on the set every day, who do you feel raises the acting bar on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL?
Susan Flannery (Stephanie), definitely. She is the most amazing actress that I've ever gotten to work with. She gives so much to every single scene, and she pulls things out of you that you didn't realize that you had. She's just an amazing actress, and I don't think I would have gotten nominated if it wasn't for her because she teaches you how to trust yourself and believe in your instincts and just go for it.
Are you recognized on the street? What kind of feedback do you get from people?
People recognize me all the time. Sometimes people will say, 'You bitch!' and are just really nasty towards me. (Laughs.) Usually it's, 'Oh my gosh! You're so great! I hate you!' (Laughs.) So it's really funny. People love to hate me. But they also feel for me, too. Like when my baby died, they said, 'Oh my gosh! I hated Amber so much, and when her baby died, I felt so bad for her, so I can't just hate her.' It's always mixed reactions from the fans, but they definitely love to hate me.
Outstanding performer for the week of Oct.5
As Amber waited to learn the fate of her unborn baby, Adrienne Frantz made new strides in her role this week on The Bold and the Beautful. After passing out in the hospital lobby following her fight with Sheila, Amber kept insisting to her doctor that her baby's health was more important than her own well-being. Frantz played this moment with remarkable conviction; until this point, we weren't sure that Amber truly cared about her child.
Frantz was most moving as Amber - hooked up to an ultrasound machine - and Rick waited to see if their baby still had a heartbeat. As Amber tearfully admitted to Rick that yes, in the beginning, she hadn't wanted the child, Frantz bonded with Jacob Young (Rick) - who also did wonderful work - adding believabilty to the couple's relationship and the scene. Frantz perfectly played jubilation and relief, mixed with the genuine love she felt for her baby. The audience couldn't help but feel the resters at the door almost nonentities, despite their intrusion on the drama that was playing out. Frantz also convinced us that Rick and Amber's relationship is more than just the teen crush that Brooke and Eric have insisted it is.
The effect of Frantz's performance was twofold. As Amber went from dazed and confused to downright distraught, Frantz turned in her most compelling work to date. She also provided any viewer who saw Amber only as a self-absorbed social climber with ample evidence to the contrary. Anyone who already sympathized with the character was surely reaching for the tissues.
Working as a young actress has mant that Adrienne Frantz (Amber) has had to mature more quickly than other people her age. But that doesn't mean she's not still a kid at heart. "I'll never grow up completely," says Frantz, who, among other things, rarely passes up an opportunity to catch a classic animated Disney movie. She also makes sure to keep in touch with her inner child in other ways. "I bought crayons the other days, which I hadn't done in years," she says. "I was walking through a drugstore, and I thought, "When was the last time I touched a box of crayons?" While she was at it, Frantz also bought a coloring book, which she took home and shared with her friends. "I sat there with the guys in my band, and we all started coloring," says Frantz. "Sometimes, you just have to be a kid."

Adrienne Frantz (Tiffany) discovered that you can go home again -- and it's very nice when you go a TV star. While visiting her family in Detroit recently, she sang the national anthem at a Pistons basketball game. "It was especially great to return as a television celebrity!" says Frantz. "I used to (sing the national anthem) a lot," she adds. "But I haven't been able to since I started on the soap." Raised in Michigan, Frantz was a familiar "local" Detroit celebrity. She sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Neons (indoor soccer) and the Vipers (International Hockey League) games, too. Now Frantz is expanding her repertoire. Currently, she has an "alternative" music demo tape she's trying to sell.
CBS.com: What is the title of your favorite romantic movie?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: This is a tough one - there are so many. You know what I just saw that's my new favorite? Notting Hill. It was so precious and I just cried.
CBS.com: Describe your most romantic experience.
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: I had a boyfriend when I lived in New York and we used to sneak onto the roof of the building that he lived in. You weren't supposed to be on the roof, and he would just play guitar to me and sing to me on the roof. That was kind of cool with all of New York in the background.
CBS.com: What is the most romantic gift that you've given to a significant other?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: There was this ring that meant something to him, but his finger would always turn black from it. He left this ring at my house one time and I went and had it cast and made into white gold and gave it to him so his finger wouldn't turn black. I just left him a little note saying, "Here, now your finger won't turn black."
CBS.com: What qualities would your ideal mate possess?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: He'd make me laugh all of the time and that would have to be the most important thing. I'm not all into looks or anything like that. It doesn't matter to me. The most brain dead guys I've ever gone out with are just super hotties and I'm just like, you know, whatever. As long as he makes me laugh, that's all that matters, and that he really cares about me.
Adrienne Frantz is nominated for the Outstanding Younger Lead Actress Soap Opera Award this year. The Soap Opera Awards will be held this March, but buy a copy of Soap Opera Digest now to vote on the winners! (The ballot is in the November 30 issue). Adrienne took a break from preparing her first ever Thanksgiving meal to share her enthusiasm about the nomination.
CBS.com: Congratulations on your nomination! How do you feel?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Oh, I'm so excited. I'm just thrilled. I don't know. It was definitely unexpected, because you always just work and do the best that you can do and don't really expect anything. So when something comes, you're surprised. I was very surprised and happy with it.
CBS.com: What scenes are you the most proud of this year?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: I would have to say the scene where my baby dies, the baby's funeral and when I came and took the baby back from Becky - that whole confrontation. Those are my best scenes, I think, this year.
CBS.com: When those scenes where the baby died aired, we got tons of mail declaring that if you didn't get an Emmy this year it would be a crime!
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Wow! So, maybe they'll vote for me then! [Smiles]
CBS.com: Who will you bring with you to the award show this year?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Undecided. It hasn't even been discussed yet. I'm not thinking that far in advance! I'm so bad, I'll go up to like a week before the award show and not have a date!
CBS.com: Amber has had a tough year. Were your scenes when you lost the baby difficult to play?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Oh my gosh! They were the most challenging scenes of my life. I think I just really got to show myself as an actress that day. I mean, I live for scenes like that - just so powerful, so emotional. I use substitution in everything I do, so when I'm crying, I am really crying. When I was hysterical, I was really hysterical. After the baby's funeral, I was crying so hard that I had to sit down by myself for ten minutes because I couldn't stop crying. I was so hysterical. It's just scenes like that that really help me accomplish my dream. Because that's what I always wanted to do - amazing scenes.
CBS.com: Amber has gone from one crisis to another - first Raymond, now Becky. Not to mention Kimberly!
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Oh, yeah! [Laughs] Never stops!
CBS.com: Do you think Amber is being fair to her cousin?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: I think she is to a certain extent. Becky didn't want the baby at first, so Amber did in a roundabout way save the baby, you know. Even if she didn't want to take the baby, she fell in love with him. I think that Amber's a very good mother, and Becky isn't as responsible, so I don't think she necessarily is doing a bad thing to Becky by keeping the baby.
CBS.com: There is so much debate online about the issue. Some people think the baby is better off while others say, "How could she steal a baby?"
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: She didn't steal the baby; it was given to her by her mother. She didn't want to take him, but she felt so bad for him, what was she going to do? What was going to happen to the baby if Amber didn't take him? Becky would have never gotten him back.
CBS.com: Do you think Amber and Rick's marriage can survive if the truth about the baby is revealed?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Ooh, that's a tough one! I don't know. I guess Rick will really have to show if he loves Amber or not. I couldn't even tell you an answer.
CBS.com: How do you like working with Justin Torkildsen (Rick)?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: I like him. He's really sweet. He's just turned into such a great co-star. We have fun onset. He always knows his lines, he always gives so much to the scene. He's starting to give me more where I can feed off of him and it makes acting fun. He's really good. I like him.
CBS.com: How do you like working with Andrea Evans (Tawny)?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Oh, Andrea, she's a riot! She is. [Laughs] She's so much fun to work with. She's just a character. I love her to death. It's so funny because I'll walk around like, "Hi, Mom! How are you?" [Laughs] She looks more like my mother than my own mother does.
CBS.com: Did you have fun with Amber and Kimberly's recent catfight?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Oh, so much fun! So much fun! My friends will say to me, "Now, you're not going to take any of that home with you, huh?" [Laughs] I'm like no, no, it's acting!
CBS.com: What would you like to see happen in Amber's storyline?
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: I don't know. I kind of like waiting to see what's going to happen next. Well, what I would like to happen is Amber deciding she's her own person. She's always been so strong-willed and she's always just been there for herself - just Amber the wild, kooky Amber. I'd like to see more of that coming back - the old Amber. Because I think the audience misses her and I know I'll miss her.
CBS.com: Thank you and good luck!
ADRIENNE FRANTZ: Thanks.
She may be a devil on B&B, but ADRIENNE FRANTZ (Amber) has a thing for angels. One of her cats is named Angel, and she also has an angel collection watching over her home. She says that they remind her of her late grandmother, who got Adrienne her start in show business by signing her up for acting/voice lessons and getting her modeling portfolios made up. The actress feels like her grandmother is her guardian angel, she tells SID.
Did you know that ADRIENNE FRANTZ (Amber) has a tattoo since she was 17? She tells Soap Opera Digest that she and her best friend, Sonja, lied that they were 18 to get each other's initials tattooed on their bodies. Adrienne's mom was shocked when she heard about it when someone asked her daughter if she was getting ANOTHER tattoo! Adrienne likes to say that the "S" stands for stupid, but she tells people it stands for "Superwoman."
ADRIENNE FRANTZ (Amber) traveled to Finland last months to promote her music, she tells Soaps Preview Weekly... but of course, since B&B is watched by about one fifth of that country's viewing audience, she was recognized by many fans for her work on the show.
