A Wish

Light and airy as a bird
Wet and slippery as a fish
Clear and pure as a crystal
I wish to make a wish
Gazing up at the dazzling glittering sky
Finally settling on a single, lone star
I close my eyes in respecful observance
And make my wish from afar
I wish for everlasting inner peace
And content with oneself
For the cruel wounds of spiteful words
Inflicted on my poor soul
To disappear and leave no trace
And close that wide, gaping hole
I wish to be free of this entrapping cage
To flap my wings and fly away
Or glide into the hidden depths of the ocean
Where no longer will I be forced to stay
To the safe haven of guarded clouds
In which I could forever remain
Or the natural green beauty of a garden maze Eternally protected from directed bane
My final wish is simply this:
To live and really live
Life to its fullest potential
Unbound by human restrictions
And able to pursue my deepest desires
My wish is now said and done
And I open my eyes to greet the sky
Somehow even more star-painted than before Now to simply wait patiently
And watch with hope.
back to the highway that never ends
