Why can't he see what is right in front of him?
Someone who loves him more than life itself.
I would give anything to wake with him every day.
To be able to love him openly...
And for him to love me in return.
It's a dream that has been dear to my heart
Since we met at the academy.
He is my best friend.
I have to content myself with that.
Even though he doesn't love me the way I want,
I know him better than anyone ever will.
He has been hurt in the past,
So now he guards himself behind walls...
Very strong walls, and multiple façades.
Only I have ever been let inside those walls.
No one else knows the beautiful, vulnerable man,
Hiding inside of the brash, confident pilot.
This just makes me love him even more.
I can't help but hope that one day,
He will see me standing here and,
Make my dreams become reality.
Until then, I will be there beside him,
Being the best friend I can.
