Linda's Forest

Thanks for wandering into my forest. I love the leaves and colors...
the beauty of nature and the wonder of her creatures.

The Forest

Walking in the forest among the falling leaves,
the wind is softly swirling them
around and under my feet
with each step that I take further into the forest.

Squirrels are gathering the acorns that drop
cracking and tapping as they fall
within the golden leaves
of the great oak.

I hear the Mourning Dove calling to her mate
who does not return this time.
So much sadness in her cry that my heart aches,
for I too have loved and lost.

A fox and her little pup scamper across my pathway
towards her den in the canopy
of red sugar maples
and the yellow aspens.

Looking upwards, the blue sky is clear
and I breath in the smells of the earth.
Nature unfolds around me as I walk
on this crimson path.

There is one true place where I feel passion and pain, joy and sadness,
emotions I feel safe to reveal.

It is here,
within the forest.

Autumn and Old Man Dawson

A family of chipmunks scurry back and forth across the small yard,
filling their cheeks and tummies
to grow a thick winter coat.

I sit on the steps and watch them,
as the leaves fall
from the hickory, maples and oak.

Woodpeckers, house wrens and a few finches too,
know the days are much cooler
and the sky is not blue.

The old man shuffles out to the seed sack
and scatters a couple handfuls of grain,
the small little creatures know not of his pain.

A small fishing boat sits covered, and the fishing poles put away.
The large catfish tank is empty now,
but he remembers the long and hot summer days.

I look upward watching as the wind sways the bough of the trees,
gliding and falling gently
are their brilliant red, orange and yellow leaves.

A layer of acorns are scattered on the ground,
the red squirrels are hunting
and there are lots to be found!

Nature is resting and the old man - he is too
saying as he lays down,
"a few hours will do."

The sun is slowly coming up now as he sits in his chair,
he looks out the window,
the trees nearly bare.

No chipmunks or squirrels come out this day from their dens,
Winter is fast approaching
and the cold days and nights
have set in.

Hi All, Welcome to my new web site. I wanted to share some of my favorite things, people, places, hobbies and lots of my own thoughts and ideas. In this new world of mass communication, it will be so much more fun to add things here to share with everyone. Check back often to see what’s new! Please sign my guest book and share your thoughts or just to let me know you came by, if you have a web site too, I would love to come visit your cyber home too!

As soon as I can, I'll put pictures of my adventures, to Ireland, and our recent trip across the USA and of my family and my grandbabies (my newest grandson is due on 6-05-04 *G*)

For those of you interested in our family geneaology, I will be adding to it constantly as it is HUGE!

For those who are interested in spooky things and not faint of heart, check out the spooky page. I will tell you there what is it all about and you tell me what you see in the pictures. I will add links to compare these to as I find them. Looking over some very old pictures, we saw them in the past as well. Some things just can't be explained so a picture is worth a thousand words.
