The Vernon Christian Fellowship prophetic group was started out of the need for prophetic people to gather together for mutual support and equiping. The vision of the group is to see relationships formed and strenthened amongst the prophetic people in the Okanagan Valley region of British Columbia and beyond. We also desire to be equiped in the area of the prophetic ministry in both solid biblical teaching relating to the prophetic, and also in the practice of exercising the gift of prophecy.

As a group we understand the importance of prophetic people being gathered together. As the Apostle Paul wrote 'For we prophesy in part', we understand that God never gives any prophetic person the whole picture, only a 'part'. As we gather together in unity to seek His will, so we get to see how each part that we bring fits into the big picture and we can see a more complete view of what the Lord is longing to do in these days.

The group is led by Alec and Cheryl Downward who have been members of Vernon Christian Fellowship since 1992. They have 2 children, Hayley and Aidan. Alec is recognised as one who moves in prophetic ministry; prophesying and also equipping prophetic people in various churches and group settings.

The group meets once a month on a Thursday evening, and generally follows a format of some testimony about things God is doing in the various churches that attend the group, followed by a teaching and discussion, then we exercise the gift of prophecy and prophesy over people, and into various situations and circumstances as the Lord leads us. 'Surely the Lord does nothing without first revealling it to His servants the prophets' (plural)......how important it is that we gather together!
