There is a real need for both Biblical and practical teaching in the area of the prophetic ministry. These teachings are designed to give some practical tips that will help you become more effective in the prophetic. They are also Biblically based, and all of the scriptures are clearly maked so that they can be used for further study if neccessary. It's vital that as a prophetic people we have a Biblical foundation to all that we do. I hope you find these teachings helpful. More teachings will be added as time goes by, and as we study and discuss different areas of the prophetic ministry at the VCF prophetic group.

PROPHECY & PRAYER
What is the connection between prophecy and prayer? How do the ministry of intercession and prophecy fit together, and if 'All prophets are intercessors but not all intercessors are prophets' how do we as a prophetic people cultivate our prayer lives? We'll learn some lessons from the eagle; with their talons they can grasp hold of their prey, and they are also able to carry their prey as a burden. We'll see the need to 'grasp' hold of our prophecies in prayer, and we'll see the need of 'carrying' prophecies and prayers in the spirit.

PREPARING TO RECEIVE PROPHECY
How do we posture ourselves to receive prophecy? We'll take a look at three key disciplines in the prophetic ministry; being available, being a listener, and being a seeker. Making ourselves available, taking the time to listen, and being ones who actively seek Him will help us hear Him more effectively, and will increase the amount and the quality of the revelation that we receive.

LEADERSHIP AND THE PROPHETIC
So often the prophetic ministry and leadership are in a constant state of tension. It seems like Prophets are from Mars and Pastors are from Venus! Why can't they just get along? We'll learn how we as prophetic people should relate to leadership, and how we can work more effectively with leaders. We'll see how honouring leadership, praying for leadership, and being submissive to leadership will help us move more effectively in the prophetic in our various churches.

PREPARING REVELATION FOR PRESENTATION
How do we best steward the revelation that the Lord has given us? We'll look at interpretation, and how the Lord can take us on a journey with Him by revealing more to us along the way. We'll look at some practical ways that we can write down both revelation and interpretation. We'll also look at how to handle some of those difficult correctional words. We want to be ones who steward the revelation that the Lord has given us, so that when we do share it, it will be clear and have the most impact for the Lord.

THE BENEFITS OF A PROPHETIC TEAM
Is the prophetic ministry a team ministry, or is the Old Testament model of 'one man against all odds' still valid today? In this teaching we'll look at how in both the Old and New Testaments the prophetic is truly a team ministry. We'll look at why a team of prophetic people is so much better than having an individual prophet ministering to us. This is a study of some of the things that the Lord has taught me through the VCF Prophetic Group over the past months.

HANDLING WORDS OF KNOWLEDGE
Words of knowledge are a powerful revelatory tool. In this teaching we'll look at how we can and need to correctly handle this gift to the benefit of those around us. We'll look at three kinds of words of knowledge: diagnostic words, confirming words, and words of knowledge for the unsaved. This teaching contains numerous examples from the bible and recent ministry that shows how using words of knowledge can be such a powerful tool in the prophetic ministry.

AN OBJECT LESSON IN PROPHECY
In this teaching we'll look at using objects in prophecy. We'll see how in the Old and the New Testaments prophets often used everyday objects to help share a word and display the Lord's heart to the people. We'll learn about how giving gifts prophetically as the First Peoples believers do in their giving of 'Protocol Gifts' is a very powerful prophetic way of bestowing dignity and honour on others. We'll learn how to interpret the object or gift and speak out prophetically. We'll see that using everyday objects can be a simple and poweful prophetic tool when used correctly.

ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE PROPHETIC MINISTRY
What is accountability and why is it so important? In this teaching we'll look at the issue of accountability. We'll learn why accountability is one of the keys to maturing in ministry, as the Lord trusts people who are accountable. We'll look at the relationship between accountability and faith, and how our faith level can make it easier for us to become accountable. We'll also look at some practical and simple ways that we can display accountability as we prophesy.

JESUS THE PROPHET
In this teaching we'll take a look at the prophetic ministry of Jesus in the Gospel of John. We'll see that Jesus is the first of the New Testament prophets, and He is the one who sets the standard of the prophetic ministry for us today. We see a prophet who didn't even own His words as He was so submissive to the will of the Father. We'll see a prophet who spoke words of life to the people of His day. We'll learn that Jesus was not a prophet of doom, as He chose not to speak judgement. These three things have helped mould me in the ministry, and have given me a foundation in the prophetic.

THE GIFT OF DISCERNING OF SPIRITS
The gift of discerning of spirits is possibly the most misunderstood of the nine gifts of the spirit. In this study we'll look at what this revelatory gift really is. We'll look at the four areas that we will discern; the work of the Holy Spirit, the human spirit, heavenly beings, and the demonic. We'll discover that this gift was used widely throughout the gospels and the early church, and how it can help us set people free from demonic oppression.
