My favourites
May all your dreams but one become true
I used it as signature. I didn't create it, but I wish I had :) It comes (perhaps not exactly under this form, but the idea) from books written by David Gemmel and it's the blessing of the Sathuli people (in the Drenai saga). You'll probably find it again in my works :)
"Its life always like this, the pain, or does it get easier as you get older?" - "No. Always like this: life is pain, then death."
It was sent to me by a friend who found them on a newsgroup, but didn't remember which one. So if someone recognised his own, please tell me so!
"You don't seem very happy." - "Happy? I've heard of that - always thought of it as temporary insanity"
Like the previous one, comes from a newsgroup. Not very joyful either, huh?
To conquer death, you only have to die...
Comes from the song Poor Jerusalem of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar (Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice).
Being wrong can get to be a painful pastime
Comes from the song Nothing Like You've Ever Known of the musical Song and Dance (Andrew Lloyd Webber).
"...while the little ones play on the floor with the dogs. Oh, we'll have six or seven!" - "Dogs?" - "No, Belle! Strapping boys... Like me!"
Comes from motion picture Beauty and the Beast and the song Me of the musical Beauty and the Beast, A New Musical (Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice). The song in itself is really good for silly sentences and is sooo enjoyable!
For the music alone, it's been worth all the pain and a life of perpetual darkness and rain.
Comes from the song You Are My Own of the musical Phantom (Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit).
I'm not good, I'm not nice, I'm just right.
Comes from the song Last Midnight of the musical Into the Woods (Stephen Sondheim).
I was raised to be charming, not sincere.
Words of one of the prince, still in the musical Into the Woods (Stephen Sondheim) and it was an echo to what I was writing.
There's no possible way to describe what you feel when you're talking to your meal!
Comes from the song Hello, Little Girl of the musical Into the Woods (Stephen Sondheim). Excellent wolf!
At the shrine of friendship, never say die.
Comes from the song Drink With Me of the musical Les Misérable (Alain Boulbil and Claude-Michel Schönberg).
What is a dream that can't come true?
Comes from the song Secret Kingdom of the musical The Slipper of the Rose (Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman).
Without a brain, Commander, you would enjoy yourself without knowing it, and so lose all the fun
Comes from Don Juan in Hell (Bernard Shaw) and it's a masterpiece. That's really one of my favourites. Perhaps the only time I actually liked Don Juan!
Be careful what you wish for: you just might get it.
The little adage to conclude today!
