“Hello, Legolas!” I said with glee as I rushed towards him. “What are you doing today?”
Legolas smiled and replied in his elf language something I couldn’t make out. I stood there with a puzzled expression on my face. I guess it was funny, because Legolas started laughing so loudly that I wasn’t sure what to do.
“It means “good morning” in elfish. I figured that since you had time to spare, we should start to teach you.”
“Talking about spare time,” I said, trying to change the subject, “how much do you have?”
“ How much time do you need? I have nothing scheduled. Oh wait… I was supposed to spend the day with a young lady. Perhaps you know her? She is about yea high,” he said motioning with his hands. “She has, oh, I’d say golden – brown hair. Very blue eyes.”
I grabbed his hand and ran with him out into the forest. “I want to go exploring today!” I said. I looked up at him and saw the approval in his eyes. I grinned the biggest grin I could muster up.
“In that dress? I think there is another outfit more suitable for the conditions.”
“Do we get horses? I really want to ride a horse, ‘cause then, I could look like a real Lady of Rivendell. Can you imagine? Me, on a horse, with this flowing white dress. It would be like a dream!” I was so hyper I could feel the blood circulating faster and faster.
“Well, I don’t know. The reason I came by today was to invite you to Rivendell’s, well, ball,” he said shyly. Trying to throw in a bit of humor to hide his embarrassment, he added, “I didn’t want you to spoil your outfit. Actually, you have a fitting appointment for a new dress… if you want.”
