Chapter 3
"Did you miss me baby?" Nick smiled, picking his daughter up.
Melissa nodded then yawned.
"Well, why don't you go back to sleep, then you and me will play." Nick whispered, laying her back down. Melissa didn't reply, just fell asleep. Nick smiled and ran his hand over his daughters curls. They reminded him of the curls in his hair when he was younger.
Carefully Nick walked out of the room, hoping that Melissa didn't wake up and cry for him.
Nick walked down stairs and sat on the coach beside Brian.
"Thanks so much for looking after Melly." Nick said to Brian.
"No prob. I love the little monster, even if she is just like her father." Brian teased.
"I don't know how I would of got through the last year and a half if it wasn't for you and the guys." Nick said, looking at his best friend with a tired expression.
"Just as long as you don't start drinking again like you did when you found out about Michele being pregnant."
"I would never drink now that i have Melly. I promised that to you, Lila, BJ, Melly and myself."
"And i know you have kept good to your word. And I'm sure Michele is watching over you making sure you don't."
"I can't believe that it's been like a year since the accident." Nick sighed and looked at the photo of himself, Melissa and Melissa's mother, Michele, sitting on a bench in the park. Michele was holding the 2 month old Melissa, while Nick had his arm wrapped around Michele's shoulder.
Michele died 3 months after Melissa was born, in a car accident with her parents. Nick's parents were never sure about their son raising a daughter by himself, that she needed a female influence, so they asked BJ to live with her older brother so that while growing up, Melissa could get some female influnce, but also BJ could help Nick with things like potty training, where as BJ was a girl it would be easier for her to potty train Melissa then for NIck to.
"So, what time id BJ say she'd be back from rehersals?"
"Probably about 7. So, tell me about this girl you helped on the side of the road?
