About Bridge Through The Aurora

Bridge Through The Aurora was founded (roughly) in August of 2001, a month or so after I finished reading the His Dark Materials trilogy for the first time. I had developed an interest in web design, and since there were only a few really good HDM fan sites on the net at that time, I decided to combine what I liked about those sites, add some of my own ideas and see what happened. This site is what happened- grown from a simply pathetic little site with bad graphics, little information and not much to do, Bridge Through The Aurora now has probably the second or third most active HDM forum (certainly the most rapidly growing)on the net, as well as polls, a chat room, fanfics/fanart, and the Commentary. We are home to one of if not the largest encyclopaedia of HDM information (still growing) on the net. And personally, I'd like to think that with the addition of Jay to our staff as co-webmaster, our images have improved dramatically (although he didn't design the latest banner, I just modified his design a bit).

Bridge Through The Aurora was created to provide a homebase for fans, both information wise, as well as discussion wise. The discussions on our forums range from deep, metaphysical topics that dig to the depths of HDM, to light hearted musings about who should play who in the upcoming movies. We try to appeal to a diverse fan community, because that is what the HDM fan community is. For those of us (like myself) who believes books are at their best when discussed, our forums, chats and polls provide a top-notch opportunity to do so. For those who are creative, there are fanfics and fanart, as well as the Commentary, a growing collection of essays written by fans who are trying to understand the workings of HDM. If you haven't read the books, we provide summaries, character info, and links to online booksellers so that we can encourage you to join the ranks of those of us who have enjoyed these books so much.

This site will never stop growing, constantly changing to better serve the growing number of HDM fans who visit our humble little site. Our most sincere thanks for taking the time to visit us- hopefully we have provided what you were looking for.

If you ever wish to contact us, for whatever reasons, my e-mail address is hisdarkmaterials@hotmail.com (Merlyn), and you can contact me via MSN instant messenger using the screen name "merlyn_509@hotmail.com". I am usually online between 3:30 and 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on the weekdays, and different times on the weekends. Please feel free to chat- I'd love to hear from you.

You can also contact Jay, our tech person/web designer at Scr1ptK1ddy@hotmail.com, and Neon, our message board host /tech person (NOT site tech, just board tech) at accursed@accursed.co.uk.
