A Link to the Past review
This was a very milestone game and probably one of the best games ever
made
for the Super NES. It had more of a story then the previous Zelda games
due
to the fact that the technology of the SNES allowed actual words and
conversations to be displayed better. Not only that, it gave some
actual
history of Hyrule like how it was created by the three goddesses and
where
Ganon came from and how he was imprisoned for the first time. Seeing
that
all this stuff seemed rather historical to the Zelda world.
I’m pretty
sure
this was a prequel to the NES Zelda games. This game had more stuff in
every
way. There where more items to collect in this game compared to the
last two
still keeping some classic items though, and also it had a new way of
extending your life meter by collecting items called heart pieces. If
you
collected 4 of these you’d get an extra heart in your life meter. Oh,
and
the dungeons, how could I not forget the dungeons. In the previous
Zeldas
you’d only go through either overhead view dungeons with doors that’d
only
appear in the middle of the wall nothing else to see, or, like in The
Adventure of Link, just side scrolling things like with Mario. The
dungeons
in LttP however were immense. They where multi-storied so you’d have to
fall
down holes some time to get to a sealed off room on the lower story of
the
dungeon. Also the rooms overlapped each other. So there where walkways
going
above a floor about 20 feet above it. So you could walk under this
walkway
and then after you entered the room from a different area you’d go over
that
walkway. Not to mention the only way to go through a door wasn’t
through a
hole centered in the wall; it was anywhere, but that’s not really
important
I guess. Well there’s my review for LttP.
CONCLUSION: It’s a great game that rivals even OoT.
