My Camaro has the base model 3.4 liter V6 engine offered in 1993. Note that this is not the 3.4 liter engine used in the lumina Z34. The Lumina had a 3.4 liter DOHC engine that was making close to 200 horsepower. My engine produced stock a modest 160 horsepower at 4,600 RPM and 200 ft/lb of torque at 3,600 RPM. All the power ratings are assumed to be lower in order to please the insurance companies. The engine in the 1993 Camaro is running a 9.0:1 compression ratio, the fuel is deliverd by way of electronic fuel injection. My transmission in my car is the A4 automatic. All V6 Camaro's came from the factory with a 3.23 gear ratio.
Mods
- Replaced my stock air filter housing and air filter with a K&N cold air intake
- Modified the throttle body by removing part of the bar that holds the butterfly for the throttle body, thus allowing more airflow
- Swapped the stock crank pulley with an under drive pulley made by hawk's racing, by using a smaller/lighter pulley the engine has less mass to turn, allowing the engine to spin faster
- Removed the air conditioning compressor, lets the motor spin even faster
- Added an MSD DIS4 ignition system, however it is not currently on the car, i think it might be over powering the old stock ignition coils and causing me to be missing a few cylinders
- Rapid fire spark plugs and 8.0 MM plug wires.... why not :p
Future Plans
I am currently in the process of searching for and buying parts for a 3400 top end swap with a forged bottom end.
