Shove-it, Pop Shove-it

Shove-its and Pop Shove-its are often learned before ollies, because they are very easy and pulled off quickly. The board spins 180 degrees while you stay in stance. Overall, a good trick to learn.

Shove-it and Pop Shove-it:

  • Place your feet exactly like an ollie, that is, front foot around the middle, back foot on tail.
  • Use your front foot to spin your board backside, but don't pop the tail. You have to put a little pressure on the back foot to get the front trucks to lift off. It's important not to spin the board too fast, because if you jump high enough you can get it easily. Spin it very lightly so it won't just go flying all over the place.
  • When it completes a 180, land back on it.

  • For the pop shove-it, do the same thing except pop the tail. The board probably won't spin as fast, so you definitely need to jump and kick it a little harder.

[Tips: For the shove-it, don't shoot it too fast. Control the board, spin it lightly. Also, don't pop the tail unless you're trying to pop shove-it. When doing the pop shove-it, jump. An important thing is to try to keep the board under you. It's essential for both tricks, especially while moving.]
