...the latest on Water Logged!
Well, its a sad note. Water Logged has broken up. Its actually sort of old news, but I just got around to updating this site. Sorry to everyone who spent the last month or two thinking WL was still a band.
Basically, it has just been too hard for the band to get together enough to continue. With Brent living in Davis, Jason in Santa Barbara, and Matt and Chis still in San Carlos, getting together has become just really difficult. "First of all we had to coordinate Brent and Jason's vacation times from their schools," explains Matt, "If we can tackle that, which usually only leaves a window of like a day, then we gotta coordinate it with my busy ass schedual. If that wasn't hard enough, don't even get me started about getting Chris to practice."
Its not a bitter break up, just a simple realization that not a whole lot was happening anyway. Not that there wasnt activity going on over the last year. "We played, what? Two new songs at that show last April that weren't on the album, and the last time we practiced we had like 90% of a new album worth of writing finished. The last song we wrote was really bad ass. Hopefully someday we can do something with it." Yeah, hopefully.
Well not much else can be said for WL as of right now. I want to do something cool with the sight for the band. We will definatly begin with having the entire Inner Emotions album available on MP3 (yeah, including Never Again). I'm not sure what the other guys are up to, but you can check out Matt's current band CareworN and their MP3s (shameless plug), yeah so diggit.
Hey hey, just checkin' in here to let you know whats goin' on in the world of WL.
First of all, as of August 1, 2000 WL have been released from their contract with Blue Dolphin Records. This does not mean that they are no longer working with Blue Dolphin for sure, but with the difficulties experienced with the label in the past, it can be expected that the break with the label is a welcome one. The Inner Emotions CD has still not been pressed. It is unknown if and when it will be (the last time we heard, it was pushed back to september... a far cry from the two weeks after the RELEASE party that the band was promised).
In other news, the band has written several new songs and has plans to record their second full length soon. The recording will be done without label support, and more time will be taken with this album than the last one, in hopes to have a record that sounds a lot less rushed. Oh yeah, and Brent is a song writting maniac.
Thats all the WL news for now... check back soon for any updates on these news items.
Howdy! Just a note to letcha know we are back on our angelfire server for now! WEEEEEE!
WORD TO THE MF: Full on server relocation, and CD info!!!!
Yeyeah, so the old page has finally been set up to redirect people here so we are completely switched over, the only thing left is to get our final domain name since the one we have is free and still gives us them darned banners!!!
In some REALLY positive news, Barbara has been talked to and the CD is supposed to be coming out (i know i know) soon soon soon!!!!! Hopefully the cd will include Trust Yourself, unlike the tape. If not, this reporter will be slightly peeved since it's probably the most kickin' solid minute of WL there is!!!
One last note a la Matt: "I just discovered HATEBREED!!! It is the most kick ass poo poo out there, so I suggest anyone who likes music that is really really really really really good should go out and buy their album Satisfaction is the Death of Desire (thats the one I have)! It rules!"
G-MONEY! We have moved the web page to a new server, located in Brent's apartment. This means that we will have a gig of space to use for the website, instead of the ten megs that angelfire gives us. So, if you have any pictures of WL shows or if you have any ideas of what you would like to see added to the webpage e-mail us.
In other news, we have yet to see a WL CD finished, which could be due to the fact that we havn't talked to Barbara in more then a month... hehehe oh well. Not much else is happening, but check back soon for more news and pics.
FELIZ CINCO DE MAYO, AMIGOS! What better way to celebrate than to end the rivalry between Water Logged and Cleo's Apartment. In case you havnt been following the story, Jeff Blanchard of Iowa's Cleo's Apartment and Matt from our lovely band here got in a bit of a "tiff" and the result was a rivalry between the bands. The two have since settled their differences and have asked that the rivalry come to an end.
In other news, nothing. Cool. Have a nice day.
WORD TO THE MF
Well... First things first. In case you havn't noticed: THE 4/7/00 PICS ARE UP! Go to the gallery and check em out!
Second things third. What's up people who check this site for whatever weird reason you do. Well band news is: everyones back to the S.O.S. (aerosmith or motley crue take your pick), which is they have all gone back to their respective cities and are doing their regular non band stuff, which will probably be the case for some time coming.
NO WORD (to the mf) YET on when we will be getting the cd's or HOW MUCH they will cost. Tho some internal issues between the band and the lable on this topic are being downplayed, i will tell you one thing. There is still an issue about the pricing that has yet to be resolved (those of you who were there on the 7th may have seen that the tapes supposed price was going to be $13!!!). Anyway more on this issue as the info comes (slowly).
In other news, last night a vicious fight broke out between WL's own Matt Grant and Cleo's Apartment's Jeff Blanchard. "It started out as a friendly conversation, but then Jeff started acting like he was the poo, and I had to let him know he wasn't!" explains Matt. And this was the start of a mammoth sized fight.
Apparently, Jeff thought that, his band, Iowa based Cleo's Apartment was "at least" 10 times better than Water Logged. "This is proposterous!" exclaims Matt, "As a rough estimate, they are only 7 or 8 times better than we are, and that's only on tuesdays and wednesdays. I don't know where Jeff gets his numbers, but uhm... they are phoney."
Well, it certainly appears that WL have a new rival band. Matt had some closing words: "We will never go to Iowa. Never."
...that wraps up news for now! Check back later for more fun and games!
Well the the release party went great! WL played a cool set and all was good. Click Here for a setlist... You may have notices that the opening track on the record, Blame was left out. Apparently this was an accident. Matt explains, "Yeah I didn't realize I forgot Blame til afterward, when Brent told me. Towards the end of the set I started thinking 'I think I sing another song don't I? [laughs] But I just shrugged it off."
Apparently Matt made the setlist himself and acredited the absence of the song to his being high on "Marks-A-Lot," which he was using to make the setlist.
Pictures should come back wednesday or so, so check back to see that shtuff!
The release party is tonight!!!! Be there! Redwood City Community Center 1400 Roosevelt! It's free, there's free food. The band is playing at SEVEN! Leave your crack at home. Thank you. For any other information (I dont know what else you would need to know but what the hey) check the show page.
Not much else to tell. You can bet we'll have detailed info and PICTURES up soon! Big up to Justin for taping tonights show!
...see you there!
WORD TO THE MF! Howdy y'all! Well I hope you guys all enjoyed the the APRIL FOOLS JOKE! WL are not D e a t h m e t a L (yet), it was all an elaborate hoax to fool you into believing your sister was kidnapped by aliens.
If you were one of the fools who DIDN'T check the site out on april fools day... well, theres a word in italian for what we call you, but I dont know italian, so you will just have to forget about that and check out what you missed right here!
So the word on the band is that they have been practicing HELLA ("quite a bit" for those of you who dont speak the language) and are getting totally prepared for the release party. PPPLLLLUUUUSSSSSS they will be showing off two new songs! There are no official names for the songs, but they are temporarily being called (short form) Summer and Expectation. Both songs are really cool (neither of them are death metal), I especially like "Expectation".
Thats all for now... PARTY IS FRIDAY! Kick ass!
Well, I was right all along. Today I found out that Water Logged are officially turning D e a t h m e t a L!!! That's all I really have to say about that.
First and foremost I would like to mention that we forgot to mention it was BRENT'S BIRTHDAY on the 12th... how could we forget?
Well, my journalistic study into the state of WL's music continues. Shortly after I posted my recent findings on the matter of WL's possible transition to D e a t h m e t a L, more information arrives at my feet. Once again in the message board, yes the place where band memebers and fans alike post info, Matt offered a hint into the possible future of the WLs music!!! Read on:
'You're right Jason, while the album is full of old favorites like "rat bastard" and "time" and "my favorite shorts" it does not compare to our new material like "meat and cheese sodomy", "satanic gorgoth metal doom deliverance" and espeacially not "hades conqueror".'
WELL THERE YOU HAVE IT! Is that not proof enough for you to believe me that WL are soon to be joining the ranks of Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, or quite possibly Deicide?
To find further information on the subject I interviewed Matt once again, since he seems to be the one talking about DM the most:
Hey, how are you doing right now?
Good, how are you doing? The site looks good.
Fine... and Thank you! Anyway, I have a couple questions for you Matt...
No doy, that's why they call it an interview. Soooo... what?
Is Water Logged soon to be a death metal band?
[laughs]Excuse me? A what?
You know, are your new songs death metal? Like Cannibal Corpse?
[laughs some more]No, so far they sound like WL songs. A little different but not by much. Listen to Inner Emotions off the new album for a 'preview' if you will.
Let me get this straight... There's gonna be a death metal song on the album!?!?
No. There is not.
Then what the hell are you talking about?
What the hell are you talking about?
I just want to know if you guys are death metal now?
I just told you that we arn't.
Man... I can't believe it... WL gone death metal.
I'm going home now.
Okay. Thanks for clearing that up!
Well there you have it folx. I wouldn't be surprised if dramatic changes took place soon. Woo. I still cant believe it!
Word to the mf! Well the first thing to point out is that the release party (yes its really happening) is NOT at Red Morton, but at the Redwood City Community Center or something. I am not at home right now, but i will get the exact address in the show section SOON!
In other news about the release. Well I know all y'all were stoked about gettin cd's on April 7th (i know i was), but it turns out due to complications in with the booklet printing (Basically it wasn't up to our [and Blue Dolphin's] kickass standards) only the tapes will be available. :( I know, but dont worry, the cd's will be ready for you two short (yeah right) weeks later. I know most people will want a CD and not a tape (and not want to shell out for a tape to hold them over for two weeks) so we are setting up a mailing list at the show so we can get you info on getting the CD. In addition to that, we will have information on the site about ordering the CD so it wont be hard to get (yes, even if you are in Canada Mr Skywalker).
The WL Inner Emotions release party wont be your average release party where it's just the show you play on the night the CD comes out. The whole deal is a rather early affair (I would be there at 7 if i were you!) where the band will be playing, then afterward: FREE FOOD (woo hoo)! Need another reason to come??? If so... CAKE! woo hoo!
I keep hearing rumors about Water Logged turning death metal, and am wondering if they are true! In the interview (3/17/00) I had with Matt recently, he jokingly described their music as what they call extreme metal. What if he wasn't joking??? In personal accounts I have heard Jason say the words "death metal" quite frequently. And to top it off look at this exerpt from our very own message board:
"Also Jason was right about the new sound. Those of you who were at the last
show know that our new music is 100% death metal... ok thats a lie-- its got
definate nordic metal undertones. We are changing our names to MATTricide,
Sir Brent Knight of Death, Jason Graves, and the Anti-Chris. I hope everyone
digs our new image. Dr. Dre is producing our next album, and hopefully IT will
be there to do some whispers and screams."
This would be enough to rest my case but I recently talked to Matt (an avid metal fan) about this, and after laughing at me and calling me an idiot for even thinking that, said, "April, man, you'll know what the new stuff sounds like then."
Well that's all from the WL post for now...
Hey hey. Well WL are counting the days until their much put off CD release party for Inner Emotions on April 7! That's 3 dayz before Matt's birthday and you know what that means? Thats right, the site will have been up for 6 months (at least, i dont remember the exact date of beginning, just writting news about his half birthday)! Woo hoo! Anyway, expect to hear some new songs, WITH lyrics at the show along with all the old songs 'n stuff. More info on the show page.
And now, a five question interview with Matt:
What are you listening to right now?
Fu Manchu. It's my favorite song too... WEEEIRD BEARD!
Our website here is under punk, but you guys arn't really punk... so what the hell are you?
I'd have to say a cross between grindcore, death, and doom metal. Our new songs have a definate black metal influence though.
You guys arn't metal. Were you lying?
Yes.
What is the deal with the Lightning Wizards?
We still jam on and record fun songs every so often.
It gives me a chance to do something that is not what we do with WL, like Baby Without a Head.
How did you like this interview?
Well, it was fun. But I don't know exactly what the purpose of it was.
Well howdy, y'all! Wooo! Well here's some news... mostly about this site. The site move might take a bit longer than I thought cause for some reason my video card decided to stop working today and I had to go shell out some cash on a new one, which I wasnt planning for.
If you noticed the new pop up ads instead of the imbededed ads.. CONGRATULATIONS! You win the toaster*!!!! Do those annoy you? They annoy me... I'd rather see the ads at the top than have to click off a gosh darn extra window. I have no idea why that suddenly started but I am going to try and get it back the way it was! ARGH! You used to be able to toggle between what kind of ad you want, but now (to my horror) I have been having a hard time finding the info about that. SO anyway I just wanted to apologise for the disturbance there.
BLAH BLAH BLAH enough about the page... So you know the band is doing great everythings great, so great! Have a nice day!
HOLY MOLEY! Well if you tried to check the website in the last 17 or so hours you probably noticed that something was wrong. A bunch of parts of the site (this news page included) were lost for some unknown reason. Luckily tho, now it's being rebuilt... possibly better than before?!?! Anyway, our apoligies for any inconvinience.
So the big news now is that there is actualy a (pretty solid) release date for Inner Emotions: April 7, 2000! In addition to that cassette singles were made for booking purposes which include the tracks Blame, Regrets, and Time. Obviously that is the same day that the release party is set for and everything should be cool as cheeze. More info on this as it comes.
So what's this about a new site address??? Well, its all true. We are soon planning to get a domain name and move there. Angelfire has served us well, but with our own domain, and our own space we will be unencumbered by the limitations that a free site like this has to offer. Obviously when we make the move a redirect link will be made for your convinience! You may notice some cosmetic changes over the next little while, which will partly be getting ready for the move, and party fixing the damage. :)
