Holly Marie Combs

Holly Marie Combs-Donoho (born December 3, 1973 in San Diego, California) is an American actress who has worked in movies and television series, including her role on Charmed. Since 2002, she has been a producer for the show.

Biography

[edit]

Early life

Holly was born when her mother, Lauralei Berckhem, was just 17 years old. Lauralei married Holly's biological father, but the two split up after two years, feeling they were too young to make a marriage work. When Holly was seven, she and her mother moved to New York City. Already, Holly's beauty was turning heads and she landed many print ads and commercials. Soon, she took an interest in acting, just as her mother had. The scar over her right eyebrow is the result of a childhood accident.

[edit]

Career

Although she had a number of minor roles in the late 1980s, including a brief speaking part in Oliver Stone's Born on the Fourth of July, Holly's major acting debut arrived in the 1992 TV drama series Picket Fences. She auditioned for the role of Kimberly while she was in New York. The casting agent told her that she wasn't right for the part because, "She didn't have a big enough heart." Holly retorted, "If you're looking for someone with a big heart, what the hell are you doing in New York?" She immediately got the job. Picket Fences ran for four years, winning Holly critical acclaim and a Young Actor's award.

Holly was with her best friend Shannen Doherty when she saw the pilot script for Charmed on the backseat. Holly told Shannen that she wanted to audition. When they did, Holly auditioned for the role of "Prue Halliwell" and Shannen for "Piper Halliwell," but they ended up getting each other's roles because they didn't "fit". Charmed debuted in 1998 and has been a hit TV series, ended in May 2006.

[edit]

Personal life

In 1993, Holly married Brian "Travis" Smith, but they divorced in 1997. Later, she became engaged to Storm Lyndon, but they split in 2000. Since 2001, Holly has lived with David W. Donoho, who worked as key grip on Charmed. They married on February 14, 2004 and had a son, Finley Arthur Donoho, on April 26, 2004. They are now expecting their second child later this year.

Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Jayne Milano (born December 19, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American actress. She's best known for her roles on the sitcom Who's the Boss? and the fantasy series Charmed.

Biography

[edit]

Early life and career

Milano was born to Italian-American parents, Tom and Lin Milano, and she has a younger brother, Cory (born 1982), who is also an actor. She and Cory grew up on Staten Island. She began her career at the age of eight when she won a part in an open audition for a national tour of Annie. Having gained a reputation, she appeared in television commercials and off-Broadway productions. One of her first acting roles was at the age of 10 in the television program Who's the Boss? with Tony Danza, Judith Light, Danny Pintauro, and Katherine Helmond. She starred as Samantha Micelli, the daughter of Tony Danza's character, Tony Micelli. In order to appear in this show, her family relocated from Brooklyn to Hollywood.

In 1985 Alyssa played the role of Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter in Commando.

[edit]

Later career

For the majority of her career Milano was known for her role on Who's the Boss?, something she later tried to shed by appearing in several adult film roles. Many of these included nudity or graphic simulated sex scenes. Milano was able to make the difficult transistion from child star to adult actor with her success on Melrose Place and especially Charmed. In 2001, Milano played the role of Eva Savelot in commercials for 1-800-COLLECT

[edit]

Music

Milano is also an accomplished singer and recording artist, though not in her home country of the United States. She has released five albums that have all reached sales of over one million copies in Japan. She even appeared in the blink-182 video for the song "Josie".

In 1989 her image was used for the character development of Ariel in the Disney movie, The Little Mermaid

[edit]

Personal life

Milano is an avid fan of tattoos and has seven of them. She is an open Liberal and supported John Kerry in the 2004 Presidential Elections. She was briefly engaged to actor Scott Wolf in 1993. Later she was married to Remy Zero lead singer Cinjun Tate from January 1st until their divorce on November 20th, 1999. She briefly dated both of her co-stars on the Charmed series, actors Brian Krause and Greg Vaughan. Milano also had a brief fling with pop music singer Justin Timberlake in 2002, followed by a casual relationship with actor Rob Lowe. There was mention in tabloids about her brief romantic involvement with Joaquin Phoenix, but that has not been confirmed. She has also been linked to baseball pitchers Carl Pavano and Barry Zito. At present, she is dating Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny. She is also the cousin of Eric Lloyd and his older sister Emily Ann Lloyd.

Rose McGowan

Rose Jane McGowan (born September 5, 1973) is an American actress.

[edit]

Biography

[edit]

Early life

McGowan, the second oldest of six children (including two half-siblings), was born in Florence, Italy to Daniel McGowan (an Irish-born artist) and Terri (a French American writer); her parents were members of the Children of God cult and her father ran the Italian chapter of the group. McGowan spent her early childhood in the group's communes and travelling Europe with her parents, who divorced when she was nine or ten. She subsequently lived in Oregon and Gig Harbor, Washington. McGowan did not speak English until she moved to the U.S.

McGowan's high school years were spent with her father in Seattle. At the age of fifteen, McGowan officially emancipated herself from her parents. [citation needed]

[edit]

Career

McGowan was a child model, but did not start acting until she was in her teen years. Her first role was at the age of 17, playing a minor character in the 1992 film, Encino Man. Her role in the 1995 black comedy, The Doom Generation, brought her to the attention of film critics and she received a nomination for "Best Debut Performance" at the 1996 Independent Spirit Awards. She was subsequently cast as the best friend of Neve Campbell's character in the horror-satire film, Scream.

McGowan spent the majority of the 1990s appearing in low-budget films, including parts in Southie, Going All the Way, Lewis & Clark & George, and the 1998 movie adaptation of Phantoms, directed by Dean Koontz. She also appeared in the 1999 black comedy, Jawbreaker, where she played a high school student who tries to cover up a classmate's murder.

In 2001, after some forgettable roles (including a small role in the wrestling-themed movie Ready to Rumble, which performed poorly at the box-office), McGowan was cast as "Paige Matthews" in the television series Charmed, as a replacement lead actress after Shannen Doherty's resignation from the show; the series will end its run in May 2006, as McGowan has said that the actors' contracts were done by the show's 8th season.[1] In May 2005, she portrayed actress/singer Ann-Margret in Elvis, a CBS Mini-series about the life of Elvis Presley.

[edit]

Private life

McGowan gained a reputation for playing brassy, violent characters. She was in a very public five-year relationship with shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, and often appeared with him at celebrity events in barely there outfits, such as the chain mail transparent dress and thong she wore to the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards. McGowan later ended their two-year engagement over "lifestyle differences."

McGowan used to live in Seattle but currently lives in Los Angeles. She used to suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder. As a victim of sexual assault[2], McGowan has led discussions on the subject among campus groups.

Shannen Doherty

Shannen Maria Doherty (born April 12, 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American actress, best known for her work as Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210 and as Prue Halliwell in Charmed.

She came to notice when she was cast as Jenny Wilder in Little House on the Prairie, which she followed up with roles in films such as Heathers. She was then cast as the oldest Witherspoon sibling, Kris, on the family drama Our House, which ran from 1986 to 1988. Shannon then went on to appear in an episode of Magnum P.I..

She starred on the Aaron Spelling-produced Beverly Hills 90210 for four years, from 1990 to 1994. Although her departure from the series was reportedly acrimonious, it didn't stop Spelling from casting her in another series, Charmed. She left that series in 2001, after three years, claiming that her best work was being wasted on a show "for 12-year olds" (though rumors persist that her departure was against her will, due to a feud with costar Alyssa Milano). She hosted Scare Tactics on the Sci Fi channel until the 2004 season. She was a former regular on the failed TV series North Shore, a return to her prime-time soap roots.

Her private life has also been turbulent, with a six month marriage to Ashley Hamilton, son of George Hamilton.

Doherty posed for a nine page pictorial in the December 2003 issue of Playboy magazine.

In 2005, she was cast in the new TV comedy Love Inc. but was dropped from the show just months before the debut in fall.

According to some sources, she is fluent in three languages: English, Spanish and French.

She has recently declared herself to be a conservative Republican.
