Chapter 9

…The door burst open.

" RACHAEL DON’T!" I knew that voice. The person rushed in and grabbed me. I had longed to hear the voice for almost 3 three years. The knife slipped from my fingers and fell to the floor. I was enclosed in an embrace that had once given me reason to live. I was dragged away from where I had been sitting on the floor. He lifted me on to him. I wrapped my arms under his and smothered me face in his chest. He was breathing heavily. I was still nonchalant. Tears of calmness rolled down my face and off my chin. His are was wrapped around my head in a protecting manner and his cheek lay atop my head. I had almost taken my life. This is what I had been waiting for Taylor to do for three years.

"I’m so sorry," he whispered.

"What took you so long?"

"I needed to redefine myself. I tried, only to find out that I couldn’t without you." He cupped her face in his hands, removing the hair swept across her face.

"I love you."

"Don’t leave me alone again."

" I won't, I promise."

"I won’t, I promise." Then, he kissed me and I was revived. Life flowed freely throughout my battered body for the first time in almost three years.
