I'll write this properly when I can but this is mainly a rundown so you can see hwat I was talking about with the Lae'ta connection to Danaiette.
The Danaiette girl is a cruel old (around 29 yrs old :P ) woman who is a b*tch and a half and tries to steal Lae'ta's guy and ends up 'capturing' him in some magical way but he stands by his betrothed only She doesn't tell Lae that. This one who is like Danaiette has twisted Lae's mother around her little finger and when L's father is off and away somewhere she has Lae drugged and dragged off to get 'married' to this absolutly stinking rich and powerful but totally ugly and horrid guy only when L comes back to the world she freaks and does some pretty serious damage to the icky guy.
He plans to kill her but is terrified of her father... other stuff happens and it ends up that Lae wanders off into the forest to a place where 'they' had been together and as her grief overwhelms her, she cries to the stars to keep her, which they do, until...
What must be centuries later Lae'ta is woken by H'nara Okai, a young warrior boy who is being oppressed by the Danaiette girl who is still about only in a slightly different form and a touch younger. Lae'ta recognises her immidiately and decides to kill her but she has to get close to her to do it. Only when it finally gets to the point where she would she finds that the girl is not quite the same, things have happened in the time since she was gone and she is... nicer, infact, Lae'ta quite likes her. But Lae has spent so long waiting for her lover that she cannot let it go, she finally confronts the girl who reveals what happened and what will.
This incarnation of Danaiette dies by Lae's hand as she promised but it is a mercy killing rather than revenge and in that moment Lae's soul is free. She lives for many years alone with H'nara as mentor and student but nothing more although through that time H'nara falls in love with her but eventually when Lae is starting to get all cute and wrinkely he meets a girl who he really really loves and marries, Lae dies a short while after their son is born. I'm damn certain that their son is who Taenir is named for.
