The renaissance brought whole new works of literature to the world today. Many different righting styles such as the sonnet had been developed at that time. The sonnet was developed by a man known as Petrarch. He developed these poems to show his love for a women named Laura. Also the renaissance brought the talented playwrights of William Shakespeare, who wrote some of the most popular plays still in use today. A few of these plays are Hamlet, Macbeth, and Romeo And Juliet. Another man by the name of Miguel De Cervantes wrote the story that is still frequently read today called Don Quixote. This story is a parody of the ideas of Chivalry and Medieval knighthood. The Advances in literature lead to the development of the printing press.
The use of making prints to distribute different forms of art was developed in China. Late this passed through to Europe where the more primitive Chinese ways where expanded into machine that used “movable type” to make printing more simple. The printing press released the first machine printed bible in 1455. Previously all other books had been copied by hand. Due to the printing press people’s thoughts and ideas had been able to spread all through Europe. It also allowed common people to get hold of cheaper then was ever thought possible. Because of this the literacy rate among the lower classes had skyrocketed. The literacy gave people much more freedom and fed them much more information. This explosion in knowledge proved the renaissance to be a extremely important growing period in history.
