A2. Growth & Expansion
Recently, a few years after your first Hive was opened up, there's been a sudden dramatic influx of humans to this planet.
Shipments of migrant workers along with contingents of US Colonial Marines arrive daily and fuel the growth of Hives around the globe.
Moments ago, a Marine demolition charge has exploded and destroyed your underground Hive.
You must reestablish a viable Hive and expand out into new areas.
A Marine attack has blown up your Hive. First, repopulate the Hive. Then, invade the Marine storage facility. Search for a landing pad and get a Queen on board a dropship before it leaves. While in the field, optional goals for your Hive will arise and appear on the pause menu. They are worthy goals, but are not required for a successful mission.
PROPOGATE THE SPECIES:
INVADE THE MARINE FACILITY
Objectives:
* Enter the Marine facility and locate the dropship landing pad inside the VIP Hangar. Destroy all Marines guarding this pad.
* Get a Queen on board the Executive Drop Ship that docks at the landing pad inside the facility. A selected Queen can be moved onto the Executive Drop Ship only after it lands and comes to a complete stop.
Optional Objectives:
* Kill all Marines.
Starting Forces:
* 500 Infestation Points
* 1 Queen
* 1 Praetorian
* 3 Drones
* 2 Runners
* 6 Hive Nodes
Target Time: 35 minutes
Firstly, take your three Drones to the northeast. There are large herds of Oswocs here. Before yoy begin killing Oswocs for hosts, give your Drones the Cystic Spittle upgrade, then give your Queen her egg sac. Now kill Oswocs with your Drones and drag the bodies back to the Hive area, or just take Facehuggers to them. During this time, a few Synthetics and Marines may come to attack the Queen, but she should be safe enough with the Runners and Praetorian there. Also make Warriors out of any human hosts you may have gotten. With your new army of Cystic Drones, head north slightly and search for human Infantry. Get to killing and make Cystic Warriors of them. You can set your three regular Drones to moving Eggs around the Hive so you will always have a good amount. There are also a few Kurn to the north if you want some Cystic Runners.
Don’t forget, you need to kill all Marines in this level, so hunt them out. In this level, you will end up with way more hosts than you should need, so once you get far enough away from the Hive it is wise to just leave them until you lose troops and need more again. Continue building your army of Warriors and Cystic Warriors as you move north across the map. If you find yourself losing too many troops, pull back and make more Aliens before trying again. Make sure to check the cave marked on the map for any hidden humans. Continue scouring the level and by the time you reach the hangar, there should be a trail of human bodies in your wake. You should also have more than enough infestation points to upgrade your Runners and Warriors as well. Make sure to be thorough around the dropship area, as the humans may create another CommTech to provide additional backup.
Once every human outside is killed, head to the entrance of the hangar. Inside there are more humans and sentry guns as well, so you will have to storm the entrance. Don’t worry if many or even all of your troops die. There are enough bodies outside and enough Eggs at the Hive to replenish your forces. You will want to destroy the sentry guns first, as they do the most damage to your troops. Search around the hangar to kill every human here. Once the landing pad is clear you will get a message.
If the game hasn’t informed you that all the Marines in this level are dead, there may be more near the dropship area, or close outside the hangar. Search them out and when they are all dead you’ll get a message saying so. Now ignore this army as you don’t need them anymore.
Now have your Queen detach her egg sac and move her all the way north, into the hangar, and onto the landing pad. Since there are no more Marines in this level she is completely safe. Once she is there, wait a little bit for the dropship to land and then move your Queen inside it to complete the level.
