Dimitri: We should hurry.
Woman: I'm working as fast as I can, Dimitri. If you don't like being out here, why did you volunteer?
Dimitri: It's dangerous for you to be alone.
Woman: And I'm supposed to be safer with you? Does Dunya know you're out here?
Dimitri: You are losing focus on your work.
Woman: Uh, huh. Listen, this is all double redundancy. We have two layers of hardware between zero current and us. Barring a total software meltdown, we're as safe here as we are inside.
Dimitri: What makes you think we are safe inside?
Woman: There, good for another thousand years.
Dimitri: What did you do?
Woman: That wasn't me.
Dimitri: Get inside! Now!
A large group of Aliens start to run towards them.
Woman: Oh god.
Dimitri: Keep moving! Don't look back.
They are caught by the Aliens.
Eisenberg: We should get inside.
Synthetic: We are closer to ground shelter 1. I recommend that we proceed there immediately.
Eisenberg: I'm not going underground.

On Jaunary 6th at approximately ten P.M., the defense system of the Forward Pods collapsed due to a massive software failure. Records indicate some number of Xenomorph drones and runners entered the Pods during the fifteen minutes of downtime. These reports also mention the loss of Archeological Team Omega, working at Dig Site #12, near the Xenomorph Hive. We believe that the focus on saving these men - code-named Operation Savior - distracted Pod security from a more immediate threat.
* Liberate the artificial hive.
Warning, Xenomorph contamination confirmed. Please remain in your quarters with doors locked until further notice. All deck officers have been issued pulse rifles. Report any problems immediately.
Crawl up into the tunnel beneath the grated floor. Head right, then right again, and up the small crawl space at the end of this passageway. This will take you into the hallway, so kill the many Marines you will find here. Then go through the hallways until you reach an area with a ladder. Go up the ladder and through the open door. At the end of this passageway, claw away the grate on the ceiling and crawl up inside the vent. You can hear humans talking below you from inside this vent.
Man 1: Major McCain. My condolences on the loss of Corporal Harrison. We try to control our convict laborers through the use of technology, but as you know, technology can fail.
McCain: Have you caught the son of a bitch yet?
Man 1: It's only a matter of time. We've identified the last known position of the missing team. I'm afraid the rescue is not without risk.
McCain: I think we can handle it.
Man 1: Excellent. General Rykov will brief you on the situation. Best of luck.
Continue through the vent, and when it forks, go left. Claw away the grate at the end and drop down. Kill the humans here and continue through the halls to the room with the ladder and the technicians.
Intercom: Medical teams please report. Operation Savior is now at yellow status. All Marine personnel report to Major McCain for rescue briefings.
Headbite the technicians if you need health, then crawl up the ladder. In this room you'll see a Predalien in stasis through the window. Claw the computer console to free the Predalien. The door you came in through will lock, so look around the ceiling for a grate. Claw it away and climb up into the vent. At the vent's end, claw the grate to exit, head out into the main room with the ladder, and go through the door clawed open by the Predalien.
Intercom: Medical teams please report. Operation Savior is now at yellow status. All Marine personnel report to Major McCain for rescue briefings.
This leads to a room with some Marines. Kill them, then head up the stairs to the right. Kill the technician in the room at the top of the stairs, claw the grate in the ceiling, and enter the vent. Head left inside the vent and go down the tunnel to your right, into another vent. Claw away the grate in the ceiling to crawl out and complete this part of the level, after the cut scene.
Intercom: Attention all personnel, please be advised that Pod Two has been placed on Red Alert status. Xenomorph contaminant confirmed.
Eisenberg: Command, this is Dr. Eisenberg. What is the situation with the contaminants?
Radio: We're still tracking one creature, but we think it's isolated in the maintenance system.
Eisenberg: You think it's isolated?
Radio: Shall I send security? General Rykov has a team nearby.
Eisenberg: No, of course not.
Eisenberg looks around, and begins to imagine he's hearing sounds, and imagines seeing Aliens around him in the room. He barricades the room, and we see Rykov and his team approach the door and knock. We flash back to see the original scene, with Eisenberg curled up on the ground with blood on him. Two Marines walk in.
Logan: We've got a survivor!
Man 1: My God.
Logan: What the hell DID this?
Radio: Logan, what's going on there? Did you locate the team?
Logan: What's left of it. One survivor... uh, looks like the others were... eaten.
Eisenberg: I didn't have a choice.
Logan: What the hell is that?
Flash back to the present. Rykov and his team enter the room and see Eisenberg cowering on the floor. Rykov approaches him.
Rykov: What is wrong with you?
Rykov: Get up.
Rykov: Get up, coward.
Eisenberg: Are the teams in position? Is the Marine rescue prepared?
Rykov: Yes, the teams are ready ... are you?
Eisenberg: We have work to do.
Weyland-Yutani Debriefing, The Incident. Appendix A - Summary.
---
Based on a crude analysis of the events at the Forward Pods, some have linked the loss of the Artificial Hive to Operation Savior. Such attempts to create poetic justice from mere coincidence should be summarily ignored. As if Aliens could have known of the Savior plans or have reacted intelligently to such behavior - clearly such theories stretch the bounds of Xenomorph ability.
* Liberate the artificial hive.
When you start this part of the level, run forward and kill the two technicians for health if you need it. Enter the doorway to the left and kill the Marines in this room, if they haven't already come out. Go up the stairs and you'll hear two Marines talking.
Man 1: Two teams still haven't reported in.
Man 2: If we don't isolate this bastard quick, I'm gonna give the evacuation order.
Man 1: I don't think Eisenberg will go for that.
Man 2: I'm not gonna ask him.
Run up the stairs and kill the two Marines at the top. Check the ceiling for a grate, crawl up and claw it, and enter the vent. Watch out for the fan. In this vent you'll come to a spot where a grate allows you to watch and listen to a meeting in another room. You can listen if you want but you don't have to. It does have some important plot points in it.
Man 1: First the good news. Four hours ago, a Marine rescue team arrived at the Forward Pods. Despite their inadvertent disruption of our security grid, we are now safer than ever. In fact, even as we speak, our six weeks of isolation is coming to an end. The Marines have restored our landline to the Primary Complex and thus a link to their mother ship and the universe at large. Now the bad news. As you may have heard, one of our archeological teams has become trapped near the Hive. To extricate the team, the Doctor feels we must neutralize the Hive. That means capturing and controlling the Empress.
Scientist: As you know, the majority of the Hive extends above the Empress's chamber. Our people are trapped near the outer edge. Next.
Scientist: The operation begins with a surface assault on the Hive as a diversion.
Scientist: No humans are involved in this initial action. We'll be relying on a strike team of combat synthetics. Yet, as I have said, this is only a feint. As the Hive responds to the surface attack, two things will occur. First, a Marine team will penetrate the Hive here to rescue our comrades. Second, an extraction team will break through from the tunnel system here, at the base of the Hive.
Scientist: Our probes have mapped this area extensively. By tunneling in here, we breach a large horizontal shaft that runs directly into the Empress chamber. This shaft will serve as our roadway for extracting her.
Scientist: We expect the Hive to respond aggressively to the human threats, particularly that on the Empress. By destroying the tunnels of the Hive, the combat synths will cut off the Empress from any assistance, allowing a quick and bloodless escape back to the tunnels below. Meanwhile, our Marine allies easily and safely extract our comrades. Any questions?
Woman: Based on what you've described, it would seem our defenses would be considerably diminished after the attack. What if the Hive retaliates?
Scientist: The sympathetic theory of pheromone relationships - as put forward by Dr. Eisenberg - is quite clear on this point. The Hive will respond to the command of the Empress, and the Empress will respond to her own instinctive drive for survival. Once we have the Empress as hostage, we will be protected from the Hive.
Man 2: Protected during the extraction or protected long-term? Are you saying we would then have safe access to the entire Hive and to artifact technology there?
Scientist: We believe that we are looking at a long-term insurance policy. For those of you whose projects have been frustrated due to incomplete archeological or biological data, this would present something of an unprecedented opportunity.
Mencus: Chin's theory of competitive discourse clearly indicates that the Hive will react violently to the loss of the Empress. At a minimum, the Young Queens will struggle to determine a new ascendant ruler. More likely, the Hive will come after us.
Scientist: Who is that? Is that you, Mencus? Well, as you can see, Dr. Chin is not with us to discuss his theory. A rather good indication of its staying power.
Mencus: Where is he, anyway?
Scientist: Yes, well. To continue with the briefing, we may expect some injuries during such an ambitious enterprise, I'm asking anyone with medical training to assist with any potential triage. Any other questions?
Continue along to the end of the vent. More humans will talk below you.
Radio: What's your status there?
Man: Nothing to report.
Radio: Send a containment team, now!
Drop down and kill the technician. Leave this room and head down the tunnel to the right. Exit this tunnel and crawl down into another vent, where there is a rotating thing. Near this rotating thing there is a passageway up. Crawl up it and you will come out in a room.
Technician: Implantation sequence set. Data recording commence on my mark. Mark.
Go forward and kill the technician here then quickly head towards the other hallway in this area to kill two Marines. Where the technician was, you can see a Predator in stasis in the opposite room. Opposite of him there is a locked door. Crawl up into the tunnel above this door. This leads to a second tunnel, which you need to drop down.
Scientist: I don't mind research on the drones, but I think we're crossing an ethical line with this. These things are clearly intelligent.
Claw away the area where the grate is weakened and drop down into the next room. Kill the two scientists here for health and go into the next room.
Technician 1: Secure those samples and let's get the hell out of here.
Technician 2: This is the last one.
Run out into the room and ignore the two technicians for now. Instead, search out the Marines in this room. When they're all taken care of, headbite the technicians for health (the Marines have shotguns so you probably will have some damage). Climb up to where a third technician is and kill him for health, then claw the small console panel here. It will trigger the lift to move to the right and drop the containers of acid, burning a hole in the floor. Go down and drop into the new hole all the way to the bottom. You will see a computer console and the artificial hive. Destroy the console to free the Aliens.
Intercom: Warning, Artificial Hive integrity compromised.
You will have completed one objective, and a new one comes up.
* Escape.
A Marine will come at you from the left and from the right. Kill them both, then head down the hall to the left. Drop down the ladder in this room and head through the small hall. You'll see a few Aliens run past, they are all killed by sentry guns to the left. Go left, the sentry guns are out of ammo because of the other Aliens, crawl up on the ceiling and destroy them just in case. Head down the hall to the left.
Scientist 1: Purge them! Now!
Scientist 2: I need authorization from Dr. Timmins. I can't reach him.
Scientist 1: That's because he's dead. Now fry those things!
Go forward and kill the scientists for health. Then claw the small power box here.
Intercom: Warning, Artificial Hive integrity compromised.
Head back into the hall and through the door on the left that just opened up. Kill the technicians at the bottom of the stairs if you need health. Two more Marines will come from somewhere at the top of the stairs, so take care of them. Go back to the bottom of this room and look to the left for a small panel in the floor. Claw it and drop down. There are a few beetles in this room, but you can ignore them. Head towards the exit and you will reach the large elevator shaft. You can see Aliens running everywhere, and there are Marines on the walkways.
Intercom: Electrical security systems have failed in Pod 2. Evacuate immediately.
Scientist: Doctor, the specimens are escaping.
Eisenberg: It doesn't matter.
Scientist: They've broken free.
Eisenberg: True. Our prison was weak. It is time to build a stronger prison.
Crawl upwards in the elevator shaft. You can kill the Marines on the walkways if you want, or you can just ignore them. Head up towards the top of the shaft and exit it through an area not blocked by spinning fan blades to complete the level.
