The two sat on the porch steps for a few more minutes before Taylor pulled up in the Hanson van.
Zac helped Katie up, then the two of them walked out to the van.
"Hey guys." Taylor said, looking back at them as Zac opened the door.
"Hey." Zac said.
"How was the party? It looks pretty boomin'." Taylor commented.
"Yeah..." Zac said. "It was definitely....interesting." He finished, looking at Katie. He closed the door, and Taylor pulled away.
"So you guys had fun?"
"Yeah." Katie and Zac said.
"Cool." Taylor said.
Five minutes later, he pulled into Katie's driveway. The house was completely dark except for Katie's room and Morgan's room.
"Taylor, give me a few, ok?" Zac asked.
"Sure." Taylor said, giving Zac a knowing grin.
The two got out of the van, then Zac walked her up to her house. They stopped in front of her door.
"Well." He said.
"Yeah."
"The evening turned out to be alright after all." Zac said.
"Yeah, you really were the hero."
"Yup, that's me; Zac Hanson; Hero." He said with a laugh. "I could get used to that." He said.
"Sure Zac." She said with a laugh.
"But seriously." He said, his face turning serious. "I meant what I said back there."
"What's that?"
"I'll always be there." He said. "I mean it."
Katie felt her heart melt. "Zac...." She felt herself choke up again. "I don't know what to say." She said.
"You don't have to say anything." he said, leaning down the kiss her. She kissed him softly back, knowing that he was serious. They pulled apart, and Zac reached up to touch her hair. She smiled shyly, then he took her hand.
"Just keep that it mind." He said, squeezing it tightly. He let it go, then started to back to the van.
Katie smiled at him one last time, then went into the house. What an evening.
She walked upstairs to her room. Nicole was laying on her bed, reading a magazine. When she saw Katie, she rolled over and almost off the bed.
"HI!" She exclaimed, getting up.
"Hey." Katie said, throwing her purse on the floor.
"Well, how was your evening?" Nicole asked.
"Amazing.....well, no, not the whole part of it, but most of it was great." Katie said.
"What do you mean?"
"Well....I don't know."
"Well what happened with you and Zac?" Nicole asked.
"Lots happened."
"WOOHOO!" Nicole exclaimed.
"I knew it!" She said.
"What?"
"You like Zac!"
"Well, yeah."
"I saw you two getting comfy in the kitchen." Nicole said.
"Yeah." Katie said, grinning. She put her hair in a ponytail and then rummaged for her pajamas while kicking off her shoes.
Suddenly the bathroom door opened and Morgan walked in.
"What are you two hollerin about?" She asked.
"Katie likes Zac!" Nicole exclaimed.
"Well you could tell he liked her." Morgan said, sitting down.
"Yeah."
"He's been flirting with her ever since she got here." Morgan said.
"Oh i know, and it was like, sooooooo obvious." Nicole said, unrolling her sleeping bag.
"I'm sleeping in here tonight, do you mind?" Morgan asked Katie as she walked out of the bathroom from changing into her pajamas.
"No, i don't care."
"Besides, we need a girltalk!" Nicole said.
"Yeah, you can stay." Katie said, getting her sleeping bag out of her closet.
"Okay." Morgan said, walking into her room to get her sleeping bag. She returned, and a few minutes later, the girls were ready to talk.
"Sooo....What happened?"
"Oh my gosh, i don't even know where to start." Katie said.
"Well please do, I'm getting anxious." Morgan said.
"Yeah, hurry up."
"Okay, okay." Katie said.
"Well, at the dance, i got in a fight with Ian." She said. "So Zac made me feel better, and we danced and talked and had a really aweome time that night. I saw a side of him I've never seen, you know?" She asked.
Nicole and morgan nodded.
"Anyway, He walked me home and when we got there, he kissed me on the cheek. Then, we spend the entire fourth of july party together, and he told me that after he walked home after the dance, Ian and a bunch of guys beat him up and threatened him not to be with me." Katie said.
"They beat him up?" Nicole asked, surprised.
"yeah."
"Oh my gosh. Zac could take Ian anyday." Nicole said.
"Yeah, he's big for his age." Morgan said.
"Well wait a second. Ian had like, four friends helping him." Katie said.
"Oh." The other two said.
"Yeah. So, tonight he gave me a ride to the party, and we were hanging out when i went to the bathroom. I'm coming back when ian finds me. He starts to yell at me, and of course no one could hear him because the music was so loud. So he drags me up the stairs, and I was so scared." katie said.
"Oh my gosh!" Nicole said, covering her mouth. "I had no idea!"
"Yeah. He dragged me upstairs and into a bedroom, and then i saw Zac coming. But then Ian shut the door and locked it, so Zac couldn't help me. Then he started kissing me and he untied my dress and he pulled down my underwear." Katie said, remembering the terrible event.
Morgan and Nicole just stared at her, wide eyed in shock.
"He starts to unzip his pants, and i knew i was going to be raped. But then, Zac knocks the door open, and he tackles Ian." Katie said proudly.
"Go Zac!" Nicole said.
"Yeah." Katie said. "Then he punches Ian like, ten times and throws him out the door. Then we talked for a while, and he was so sweet." Katie said, feeling like she would melt just remembering it. "He told me he would always be there for me and that Ian would never touch me as long as he was around." Katie said.
"Aaawwwwwww....." Morgan said.
"And then he asked me to be his girlfriend." Katie said with a smile.
"Oh my gosh!" Nicole yelled, hugging Katie.
"Katie! That's so cool!" Morgan said.
"I know. And then he goes 'YES!' and picks me up and kisses me. Oh my god, it was soooo romantic." Katie said.
"Awww......" Nicole said.
"Then we spent the rest of the evening together, and when Taylor drove me home, Zac got out and walked me to the door and then he kissed me again." Katie said, hugging her pillow.
"You are so lucky." Nicole said.
"Yeah." Morgan said.
"I know." katie said. "I think he's going to make an awesome boyfriend."
"I know he will." Nicole said.
"I can't believe it!" katie gushed. "It still seems like a dream." She said.
"You should see the look on your face." Morgan said with a grin.
"I can't help it." She sighed. "He's so hot. His hair, and his eyes. Oh! His eyes are so romantic. They're the deepest shade of brown." She said, closing her eyes.
"He is pretty cute." Nicole admitted.
"Yeah." katie said, leaning back on her bed. "His body isn't that bad either." She admitted. "He's got a great stomach, and his shoulders are soooo...wide and strong and hugable....Oh, i don't know.....and his arms...Oh his arms!" She finished.
"I'm glad you're so excited." Morgan said.
"Oh i'm not excited, i'm in love!" Katie said, hugging her pillow tighter.
"Listed to her. A week ago they wouldn't look at each other." Morgan said.
"Yeah....but things certainly do change." Said Nicole.
