When the girls had finished doing their little dance, they suddenly got the realization that they only had an hour. They screamed again, and then ran to their bedrooms, slamming the doors behind them.
They both emerged and decided that it would be wise to shower first, and after that, they went back into their bedrooms, once again, slamming the doors behind them. Christina looked at all her furniture shoved into the middle of the room, and tried to get into her closet.
Once she did, she didn't get any further. She had no clue as of what to wear. Uh oh. She poked her head out into the hall.
"Michelle?" she called timidly.
"What?" She answered, sticking her head out as well.
"What should I wear?"
"I don't know. To tell the truth, I was just wondering that myself."
"Well, could you come help me?"
"I guess. But we had better make this quick. We only have thirty five minutes." She said, crossing the hall into Christina's room.
They went over to Christina's closet, opened the door, and looked in. She didn't have many outfits in there, but Michelle could work miracles when she tried.
I'm going to need one tonight, Christina thought.
"What do you think I should wear? I mean, what style or whatever should I go with?"
"Um, I would think just casual. God, this is our first college date…I think I'm just as nervous as you are!" Michelle said, flipping through Michelle's clothes.
"Gee, thanks a bunch."
"Well you know what I mean." Michelle said.
"Yeah, I guess. I know I didn't' really date much in high school either."
"Yeah, you hardly dated in high school."
"Ok, I called you in here to help me decide what to wear, not give me grief on my past love lives, or lack of, but anyway…" Christina said, turning back to her closet.
"How about wearing these…" Michelle asked, pulling out some of Christina's long, dark blue skirts.
"I guess." She said shrugging.
"My god child, we need to take you shopping."
"I don't really want to go shopping…besides, I go shopping."
"Chris, thrift shops are not considered real shopping." Michelle said.
"Whatever."
"Uh huh. Anyway…" she continued to flip through her closet.
"Are you finding anything?" Christina asked, not really that thrilled to be doing this.
"Yeah, like that pair of pants I liked and convinced you to buy last winter, and you never wore them, not even once."
"Yeah, they were a little big."
"Gosh, how do you eat like a cow and look like a broomstick? I wish I could do that… You loose so much weight, but who are you loosing it for?" she asked me.
"No one, and I've always been skinny." Christina said, looking down. Truthfully, she had lost nearly ten pounds since august, and she didn't really know why.
"And how about this shirt?" She asked, pulling out a clingy half-sleeved shirt.
"I don't like that one, it's too tight."
"Oh, come on, just loosen up."
"Well…" Christina looked at the shirt. It was a pretty shirt. It was black with a reddish pinkish sequined flower on a fine across the chest. The only reason Christina didn't ever wear it was because it was so tight on her, and she practically had not chest, so it was hard to flaunt what she didn't have.
"I guess."
"All right! Now just put those on, choose some shoes, and then meet me in the bathroom, and we'll do something with that hair!" Michelle said, running into her own room.
"What was wrong with my hair?" She asked herself, glancing at herself in her dresser mirror.
She picked up the shirt, ripped off her robe, and picked out a bra that might give her some lift. She picked up the shirt, and put it on. It was rather tight, but it didn't look that bad. She put on the skirt, and had to admit that they looked nice together, but probably would have looked better on Michelle.
She sighed. She had almost no chest. She had never really wanted one until now. When walking around the campus, the girls she saw were full chested and…well, big. She, however was not.
Christina stomped over into Michelle's room.
"Michelle." She said in a whiny voice.
"What?" She asked, looking over from her closet where she was digging around.
"I can't do this. Well, not in this, anyway." She said.
"Oh, I see what you mean." Michelle said, looking at her chest.
"Yeah."
"Um, here, just second." She said, turning to her dresser, where she rummaged a few minutes before pulling out a black bra.
"Black?" Christina said, not really liking it.
"I'm giving this to you."
"Um, how thoughtful."
"Well, I've long since outgrown it, so I want you to have it. It's padded. I loved it when it fit me."
"Okay, I'll see what I can do." Christina said, slowly taking the black mysterious object from Michelle.
She went into her room and put on the bra. She had to admit, it fit her, and made her look a little….fuller.
She went over to her closet, and looked at her floor where she had her shoe collection. Well, this would be an easy one. She had her combat boots, her tweety slippers, her tennis shoes, and some of her nicer platform sandals. She didn't really enjoy wearing the platforms, but they helped her look at least two inches taller than she actually was.
Christina bent down and pulled them out, slipping them on her feet. She felt an instant lift. She smiled, and went to go the bathroom, when she tripped and fell.
As soon as she hit the floor, she instantly knew that this was not a start to a promising evening. She got up, re arranged her skirt, and smoothed out her shirt. I'm fine, she told herself. She just prayed that she wouldn't do that later on tonight. She looked at the clock, discovering that she had only around twenty minutes.
She walked into the bathroom, she saw Michelle dressed in a sleeveless dress, with some sandals, and a cardigan over it.
"Michelle, it's October, the nights get cold, aren't you going to freeze?" Christina asked.
"Nah, and if I do, I'll just ask him for his jacket." She said smiling, and went back to applying her lipstick.
"Now, what are we going to do with your hair?" She asked, running her fingers through Christina's hair.
She had always loved her hair, and would admit that she loved it so much that she haven't gotten a real hair cut in at least four years. Sure, she let Michelle trim it a few times, but that's about it. It was a dark, chocolate brown, and was down to the area where my pants came up to. It was long, soft, and thick, and it was my one beauty feature, as she liked to look at it.
"Come here." Michelle said. She started making a tiny French braid on each side of Christina's head, and then pulled them together in the back, putting on of her little flower clips on the fastener at the back of my head.
"There. Quick and easy." She said.
She turned around and looked in the mirror. It was really simple looking, but it looked good with her thick hair.
"Thanks Michelle."
"No prob. Now for that face." She said.
"Oh boy."
"Oh, just come here."
Three minutes later, she had applied a light amount of makeup, but it was still a little more than Christina would have applied, but it did look good, so she kept her mouth shut.
Christina watched her apply the rest of her makeup, and she had to admit, she looked cute. She had on a nice amount of makeup, and her short blonde hair had the top layer pulled back in clips that she had just bought the other day at the mall.
We suddenly heard the doorbell ring, and Christina looked at her in panic.
"Go get it!" She screamed, and was obviously panicking too.
"Oh, ok." She said, running CAREFULLY out of the bathroom, across the living room, and to the door. She checked the peephole, and saw it was the guys. She flung the door open, and saw them. They both looked drop dead gorgeous.
David just had on a simple white T-shirt with some khakis with some boots, and over that he had on a leather jacket. Taylor had his hair up as usual in a ponytail on the back of his neck, and he had on some khakis also, with a black T-shirt with a dark green over shirt on, and he had chunky black boots on his feet. He looked great.
She stood there for a few moments, until Michelle came running up behind me to save the day.
"Hi!" She said, pulling me out of the way, and letting them in.
"I hope we gave you enough time." David said.
"Oh, it was no problem." Michelle said with a casual laugh.
"Oh, that's great. We've been ready for half an hour, and we wondered how you were doing."
"We've been great!" Michelle said.
Christina looked up and noticed that Taylor hadn't said anything yet. He noticed her looking at him, and he nodded at Her and smiled. She smiled back.
"Sorry, am I in the line of fire here?" David said, moving out from in front of Taylor.
He just laughed and gave David a shove. Michelle snuck me a quick glance of approval.
"So, what exactly are we doing this evening?" Michelle asked casually.
"Well, I was thinking that we'd go to the new drive in place, outside of town, and then maybe go to a café and get something to eat, and then maybe take a drive, or just whatever we feel like doing." David said, looking at Michelle.
"That's great! Sounds like fun!"
"Well, we weren't really sure what college kids do on dates, so we just took a stab." David said. Michelle laughed.
Christina just smiled and rolled her eyes. She would have followed him off a cliff and she would have still told him that's great.
"So, are we ready?" He asked.
"Oh, Chris, will you go get out coats?" Michelle asked.
"Yeah." She mumbled, and walked into her bedroom, picking up her zip up sweatshirt, and Michelle's windbreaker.
David and Michelle led the way down the four flights of stairs, and then out to their car. Taylor and Christina lagged behind.
"You look nice." He said, looking at her.
"Thanks, but I have to admit, Michelle put me together this evening."
"Well she did a wonderful job."
David and Michelle had beaten us to their car, which wasn't really a car, but a fairly new black jeep. They both sat in the front, which left Christina and Taylor to the back.
He opened the door for her, and she slowly and carefully climbed in, and sat down.
Christina noticed that he said in the seat right next to her, not the one by the window.
Well this is sort of a date, she said to herself. Why wouldn't he sit by you? She decided not to contemplate too much tonight, for fear that she might miss something.
"Is this yours?" Michelle asked.
"Well, Taylor and I share it, but he paid for it. He just bought it last May."
"Oh, it's really nice."
"Thanks." David smiled at Michelle, and she glanced at Taylor. He looked at them, then at Christina, and they shared a knowing smile and a quiet laugh that simply said, 'the sparks will be flying tonight!'
And with all that out of the way, we were off.
