Brian's Cocaine Addiction Written by: Sophia ------------------------------------------------------------
Warning: Please refrain from reading this story if cocaine use disturbs you or makes you uncomfortable.
Nick's View
It was a stormy night. Stormier than I ever remembered a stormy night being. Sophia and I were playing strip poker again. She was winning… as usual. I was now only in my boxers and being in my boxers reminded me of one thing and one thing only. Colleen. And liquor… But Colleen and liquor pretty much went together. I loved them both and they both loved me.
Sure, I had given Colleen to Brian… way back with that whole thorn bush tragedy… but I confess I wanted her back.
"Sophia, we should go visit Col and Brian," I suggested.
"Ok," she shrugged, reaching for her coat and car keys. "Get dressed."
"Sophia, there's no time for that!" I snapped, frustrated with her dumbness. "Now let's go!"
It was rather damp and cold by the time we reached the car. We had parked it 4 blocks away.
"Sophia?" I asked curiously, trying my best to contain myself and not steal her jacket. "Why do we always park the car so far away and not in the driveway?"
"Because, Nick… the frogs…"
"Oh," I nodded, knowingly, shivering from the thought. "I can still feel them all over me. Their slimy skin and cruel green eyes…"
"Shh, Nick. That was all in the past. You can talk to the shrink some more about it on Monday."
"Ok!" I shouted happily. However, I screamed so loud it awakened the frogs from their slumber.
"Nick! Run!" Sophia cried.
"Oh my God!" I began to race as fast as I could to the car, the frogs on my heels. Luckily, I made it just in time.
Sophia… well, that's another story…
So I ventured on to Brian's house without her. I missed the smell of her cologne and her constant bad jokes, but I would be ok alone. I would survive.
I reached Brian's still trembling slightly from what had almost happened.
"Nick," Brian said opening the door to find my still-shocked face. "What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it," I mumbled, pushing him aside and walking into the house.
"Where's Sophia?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Alright," he shrugged. He never liked Sophia much anyway.
I find Colleen lying on the kitchen floor, a glazed look in her eyes.
"Col!" I exclaimed, rushing to her side in concern. "Are you ok?!"
"Nick… it's Brian," she gasped. "He's evil."
"What…" I said slowly, trying to let it all sink in.
"Nick, I'm dying. I have to tell you something-"
"Shut up, Colleen! I'm trying to think," I screamed. The nerve of her… interrupting my thoughts.
"Goodbye Nick," She whispered, before becoming still.
"Ugh, Col! Stop talking!"
But before I could continue my conversation with Colleen, Brian entered the room.
"IS something wrong with Col?" he mumbled, staring curiously at her body.
"I think she's just had a hard day," I said.
"Oh," Brian nodded. "I see."
"So, you want to go swimming?"
"Sure!"
"I'm just going to go up to your room and borrow one of your suits, ok?"
"Yeah, ok… But not the blue one."
"I know, I know," I muttered. "I know it holds a special place in your heart."
"Sure does. I wore that suit when I was just a baby…"
"You know, Bri… I would never even consider borrowing it because I mean… I wouldn't fit in it."
"True, but just pick another suit, ok?"
"Ok, Brian."
I made my way up to Brian's room with only one thing on my mind… I had to find something in Brian's room that would make him look bad so that I could get Col back once and for all.
At first my search yielded nothing but used gum and Playboy magazines… I was beginning to get disheartened. I found one of Col's lipsticks under his dresser drawer and I was going to use that for my plan, but that's when I noticed a very suspicious brown box, lying on the floor.
"Hmm, what could this be?" I wondered aloud.
I opened the box and what I saw made me gasp. Cocaine! None other than the powdery substance, cocaine!
"Brian! How could you?!" I screamed so loud I was afraid the frogs would come after me again but they did not.
"Colleen, look what Brian did!" I announced, entering the kitchen with the box in my hands.
She made no movement to see what I had found. She didn't even look up! Didn't even open her eyes… and even stranger, blood was now forming a puddle around her head.
"What, Col?! Am I boring you? Boring you to death?"
I laughed for about 15 minutes at my joke because she did seem dead. Then, I got scared.
"Col?" I said, my voice wavering slightly. "Col… baby… why no get up?"
Still she did not move.
"Col? Noooo! You're supposed to be mine! Look, Brian has possession of crack! Come back to life so you can get mad at him with me! Plus… I love you," I whispered, beginning to cry.
Brian came up from behind me, a sharp knife in his hands.
"Nick, give me back my crack!"
"No, Brian! You need help!"
"The only help I need is for you to be out of my life."
And with that, he stabbed and killed me. I died that day. I died in Col's arms… We were very happy together in Heaven. And Brian… well, he snorted the rest of his cocaine. But the frogs heard him. You bet they did. And Brian… well, he is no more.
THE END Read the amazing third part, Purgatory.
