Never Ending Love-Chapter Four

*One Week Later*
“Get up, lazy butt!” Someone shook Kayla. “Ugh, get away Curly,” Kayla groaned and smacked Justin square in the eye. ”Oww!!!” he shouted, “Why do girls have do be so dang grouchy in the mornings!?” “Because we want to.” She said. She climbed out of bed, and gave Justin a quick kiss on the cheek. “Okay…anyway, take a shower. We have to meet the guys in exactly,” He looked down at his Rolex, “45 minutes for lunch” he said. “Go!” Kayla shook her head and smiled. “Yes, Daddy!” she said in a five-year-old voice. “Good, Honey, now go!! We don’t want to leave Mommy waiting, now do we?” He asked jokingly. She smacked him, and went into the bathroom.
20 minutes later, Kayla stepped out the door. She took a breath of fresh air. Then she hollered to Lynn: “Lynn! Justin’s talking me out to lunch with the guys we’ll be back! Tell Dad!” she shouted. “Okay Honey, don’t let Justin get too braggy, or bring him right back here!” Kayla laughed. Justin punched her lightly on the shoulder. “M-o-o-o-m!!!” Justin whined. “Go!” Lynn laughed. Kayla and Justin got into his convertible. “Can we keep the top open?” Kayla asked Justin. “Sure, sis,” Justin said. He opened the top, the breeze coming in. “By the way, you look beautiful! Watch out, Joey’s gonna come after you, even though he’s got a girlfriend!” They laughed. Kayla had picked something sophisticated, and something casual. She was wearing a white and lavendar belly top that showed her curves, her aqua belly button ring, and her tan, and a knee length black skirt. She kept her shoulder-length brown hair flowing freely. She had only one cute sparkly blue butterfly clip that held a string of her hair back. She looked amazing to Justin.
The ride was silent. Justin kept peeking at Kayla. Wisps of her hair were flying. She was resting her head on the back of her seat. “Are you okay, Kay-Kay?” he asked, using one of his nicknames for Kayla. “Nah, I’m fine…it’s just…never mind, you wouldn’t under—” she started. “Understand? C’mon Kayla, you can tell me anything, remember? I’m your bro. I’m here for ya!” he exclaimed. “Okay, well you know how our parents are getting married May 12?” she asked. “Yeah, they just set the date yesterday,” he started, not knowing what she was getting to. “Well, May 12, my mother died of Breast Cancer. Exactly 9 years from the wedding day! And Dad didn’t even THINK about that! The nerve—,” she sobbed. Justin held her in her arms. “Shh…it’s gonna be okay, Kays. I’ll take care of you.” He put his hand under her chin, lifted her face and hugged her. Then she kissed him on the cheek. Kayla felt safe in Justin’s arms. He held her there until she was ready to go on.
