Chapter Six

Pulling his truck into the driveway of the apartment complex he resided in, Danny turned to look at Reese. She had begun to drift off to sleep shortly after the ride back from the restaurant the couple had gone to. Now she lay there, still and peaceful, her eyes flittering as though she was lost in a dream. At that moment, Danny couldn’t have been happier to have her so close again. He sighed and turned the headlights off before opening his door, getting out and walking over to the passenger side. Slowly he lifted Reese, trying his best not to wake her up he carried her to his 2nd floor home.

Feeling her body being placed on the somewhat stiff mattress Reese opened her eyes and smiled to Danny. “Hey…” Still groggy from her short nap she sat up and rubbed her eyes. “Are we home?” She asked looking around the tiny bedroom that her and Danny would be sharing.

Sitting on the bed next to her Danny nodded. “Welcome to your new room.” He gestured awkwardly to the space around them. “I know it’s not much, but I’m sure we can find a way to fit your things in her too.”

The concern Danny expressed made Reese’s heart melt. “No, baby, it’s fine. I don’t have much to my name anyway so you won’t have to rearrange or anything. Besides, I kind of like that wall of skateboards.” She pointed to the wall that shared the door to the closet. It was decorated with several skateboards, mostly unused.

“The fans…” Danny’s voice drifted off into laughter, “they really like to hook me up.”

Nodding Reese jumped up from the bed. “Speaking of fans.” She poked her head out of the bedroom door and hollered, “Tommy Boy McCarthy are you here!?” Not getting an answer Reese turned to Danny with a pout. “Where is he? Where are all the boys? I’m not used to privacy and quiet time.”

“They’re at Parker’s,” Danny hesitated before finishing. “Parker and Eric’s place.” Raising to stand in front of Reese he gave a sly smile. “Besides, I think Tommy is going home tonight, instead of crashing here. Meaning we have the whole place to ourselves.”

Reese crossed her arms over her chest. “Parker AND Eric’s place?” The tone in Reese’s voice dripped with bitterness.

Giving a heavy sigh Danny knew Reese was feeling left out, so he gave her the best answer possible. “It was decided yesterday and finalized today. Before I came to get you we packed up the trucks and yeah…” Danny looked into Reese’s chocolate eyes to show he was telling her the truth. “Eric was getting evicted, he had no where to go. Who cares, let’s catch up.” With a wiggle of his eyebrows to show he was looking for some affection.

“Oh.” Reese said laying into Danny’s open arms. “How about I give you some loving after you give me the grand tour?” She bargained, walking out of the bedroom, Danny following close behind.

“This is the living room, this is the kitchen.” Danny pointed to each room quickly. “The bathroom is down the hall there.” Finishing his brief tour Danny pulled Reese down on the couch with him. He kissed her softly and slowly deepened the kiss between them.

Reese eased herself out of Danny’s arms and stared at him. He was so handsome to her at that moment. His chiseled features showed confusion causing her to smile. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” Danny spoke with sincerity. Standing up Danny took Reese’s hand in his and led her to the bedroom. “Let’s get some sleep.”

Nodding Reese yawned loudly. “Sounds like a plan, I’m so jet lagged right now.”

The two changed and made their way to the queen sized bed where Danny loving wrapped his arms around Reese. “Sweet dreams.” He whispered.

“You too.” She spoke softly as her eyes shut.
