Chapter Seven

Parker felt the all too familiar throbbing in her head when she opened her eyes from her peaceful rest.

She heard the music pouring out of the bathroom and the pain grew worse.

"Bear, get your sorry ass out here!" She bellowed as she got out of her bed and pounded on the door. He opened it within seconds, showing himself in a towel and brushing his teeth.

Parker groaned at him. "Eric, please be considerate of when your roommate had too much to drink the night before and is now suffering from a migraine. Turn down the music." She said simply before turning on her heels and going back to her room to get ready for work.

Eric looked after her and shook his head. "Living here is going to be an interesting experience.” He thought, closing the door and going back to the bathroom to finish getting ready.

Parker plodded into the kitchen and started the coffee maker. As it began to brew she went the refrigerator and rummaged through the contents for eggs. Not finding any, she opted for a bagel. Putting it into the toaster she got her coffee ready. Soon the bagel was done and Parker grabbed it and ran out the door shouting, “see you later!” to Eric before rushing to her car and leaving for work.

Emerging from the bathroom, freshly shaven and clean, Eric walked with brisk steps to the kitchen where he found a hot pot of coffee. Grateful, he poured himself a cup. Noticing the time he cringed. It was only 4:42 AM. “Rehearsals don’t start for another 6 hours, WHY the hell am I awake?” Eric mumbled to himself and he dumped the coffee into the sink and trudge back to his bed.

The workday went quickly for Parker and before she knew it she was sitting at her desk with nothing to do. Browsing through a few files she came across a folder titled “pictures”. Inside she found various photographs of herself and fellow radio DJs with the many different celebrities that had come to visit Kiis studios. Toward the bottom she found one picture that brought a smile to her delicate features.

The picture was of herself and No Authority. They had been one of her first interviews at the station when she landed the morning DJ slot two years ago. A younger version of all five friends stared back at her. Parker was leaning over Ricky who was down on his hand and knees. Tommy and Danny were on either side of the two, large grins on their faces as they gave one another bunny ears. Eric was standing off to the side not facing the others; he had his arms crossed and cocky smirk painted over his face.

Seeing the picture brought back memories and Parker left her mind drift back to that time…

“Hello everyone, I’m Parker Hunting, thanks for tuning into Kiis morning show, today we have with us West Coast heart throbs No Authority. Say hi guys.”

In unison the four boys greeted the listeners. “Hi, we’re No Authority.”

Parker spoke up again. “Now why don’t each of you give an individual shout out when I say your name.”

The boys all nodded and Parker began.

“Ricky.”

“Hey baby, how ya doin’ baby?” The boy with child-like features and a dark tan said into the microphone.

“Danny.”

“Wassup, wassup.” The boy with spiky blonde hair spoke next.

“Tommy.”

“Yo, it’s a pleasure to be here.” The curly blonde haired boy said, while winking at Parker.

“And last but certainly not least, Derek.”

“It’s Eric.” The tallest member said the tone in his voice slightly agitated.

“I’m… I’m… so sorry.” Parker stuttered.

“Whatever.” Eric said, waving his hand in the air with a careless gesture and rolling his eyes. “Hey everyone, this is ERIC, and it’s great to be back here at Kiis.” When saying his name Eric raised the tone of his voice and shot a look of disgust at Parker.

There was a tap at the door and it jolted Parker back to reality. “Come in.” She said while placing the pictures back into the folder.

“Surprise!” Tommy announced while strolling into the office.

“Hey!” Parker exclaimed jumping from her seat to give Tommy a hug. “How are you feeling?” She asked as Tommy took a seat in front of the desk and Parker returned back to her own chair.

“Been better.” Tommy shrugged. “My car broke down about a half mile from here. I can’t afford to get it towed cause rent is due in a week. I would have called, but my cell phone battery needs to be charged. I walked here hoping that maybe you could give me a ride to rehearsal? I’m going to be late.”

Parker nodded. “Say no more, babe, I’ll get you there.” With that she grabbed her purse and stood up to leave. “Let’s get rolling, I’m done here for the day.”
