The guys left for their respective homes as Courtney and Dakota headed back to theirs. “So….” Courtney tried to pry something, anything out of Dakota.
Dakota smiled, Court could be so obvious when she wanted to know something. “What?” Dakota asked, smiling.
“What?! What?! What’s up with you and Josh?” she exclaimed happily.
Dakota laughed. “Geez Court, settle down girl! Nothing is up.” “Nothing? Girl, he didn’t leave your side the entire night.” Courtney laughed. “My side? Hello? I seem to remember seeing a cute blond sticking to your side like glue!” Dakota smiled. Courtney blushed and didn’t answer.
“You like him don’t you?” Dakota started to tease. “Oh, D. Stop.” She brushed it off. “You do! You like Lance!” Dakota said, still laughing. “Seriously…” Courtney started. “Seriously… you like him!” Dakota finished for her.
Courtney looked at her friend and smiled. “Yeah… I guess I do.” She mumbled. Dakota squealed. “I knew it! You had that look!” “What look?” Courtney laughed. “The same look you had around Jeremy sophomore or junior year!” Dakota answered. “It was junior year… and I did not have a look!” Courtney laughed back. “Whatever girl!” Dakota smiled. “Anyway, he’s cute. I don’t blame you!”
“Ha! Look who’s talking! Miss I’m-Attached-To-JC-Chasez’s-Hip!” Both girls erupted into a fit of giggles.
“Seriously though. I’m glad you two get along. Though I do have to admit, I kind of thought you’d hit it off.” “Is that right?” Dakota smiled slyly. “Well. I like him. He’s a good guy…. Just like you said.” She smiled. Courtney nodded.
“Of course. I’m an excellent judge of character!” she smiled. “I know, I know.” Dakota smiled.
“Well, I’m off to bed. I’ll see you tomorrow morning and we’ll head over to Justin’s later on.” Courtney said, getting up from the couch. “K, ‘night Court” Dakota smiled.
Minutes later, Courtney laid in bed thinking of the events that just passed. After all these years, could she still have feelings for Lance? She thought back to when Josh first joined *Nsync and not long after that, when she met Lance. Schoolgirl crushes were the worst, and she had a major one on Mr. Bass, bowl haircut and all. Courtney sighed. Of course she’d seen him between then, but things were different now. They’d grown up, they were grown adults now. She turned to her side. She’d make a vow to go after what she wanted this time. Upon thought of her new promise, she fell asleep, smile intact.
After channel surfing for awhile, Dakota decided to take a shower. As the hot water pattered down her back, she thought back to the events that occurred that night. Her students would have been delighted to hear the news that she’d met *Nsync. That didn’t too much phase her. She lived in Orlando for five years now. This town spit out pop stars like a bubble-gum machine. She’d met a few on her dancing tours, but none that she’d care to know on a regular basis. She sighed. JC was different though, grounded. Plus, she knew he was a good guy cause Courtney never stopped talking about him. She finished her shower and walked towards her room, seeing Courtney sound asleep on her way. Dakota climbed in bed, smiling at the thought of her new friends.
