Chapter 13

Lance leaned into the center of the table. As if he couldn’t take his eyes away, his gaze was fixed upon Courtney’s mouth. How she intrigued him!

She smiled as she noticed him watching her. It was amazing. They’d known each other for years, and now, after all this time they were starting to look at each other with lovesick puppy eyes. It would almost be disgusting, if it wouldn’t be so cute. She sighed, putting a stop to her rambling thoughts.

JC glanced to the other side of the couch, where Dakota was curled up. The credits were rolling from the movie that they’d decided to watch. JC stretched out his legs, careful not to disturb Dakota. He stood up, turning off the TV and stood in front of her. Without another thought he gently took her into his arms, to carry her off to bed.

As he reached the top of the stairs the memories of the house came back to him.

Curiosity led him into his old room, which in turn was Dakota bedroom. He slightly winced at how feminine the room had become. He laid her into the bed, and pulled the covers back over her. Beyond his own control, his eyes wondered to the contents of the room. Awards were everywhere. Pictures of Dakota on the road as a dancer were placed on top of her drawers.

Leaving the room, a picture caught his eye. He smiled as he lined the frame with his figure. There, a newly developed picture sat of Dakota, Courtney, Lance, Justin, Joey, Chris and himself at poolside. He shook his head, smiled, and quietly as he could crept out of the room.
