"Come on, come on. Move!" Mercedes said to all the traffic in front of her. The girls had woken up late. It was now about 3:00 PM. They had to be at the airport in an hour, and the freeway was a parking lot.
"Ugh. Forget this. I’m getting off at the next exit. I can’t take this much longer," said Mercedes to Cassidy.
Five minutes later, she got off the freeway and took city streets the rest of the way. By the time they got to the airport, it was five after four.
"You find some place to park, I’ll go find the boys." Cass told her friend.
"Ok. Sounds good. I’ll meet you in there."
After looking for 20 minutes, she finally found some place to park. " Finally. Now to go find Cass and the boys." She muttered to herself. She started to walk towards the terminal. Southwest Southwest. Ah found it.
"MERCEDES! OVER HERE!"
"NICK!! AHHHHHH!!" She ran over to him and leaped into his arms, almost knocking him on his butt.
"I missed you too. How are you?" Nick asked as Mercedes finally let go of him.
"I’ve been good. I’ve missed you though. Did you have a good flight?" Mercedes asked Nick.
"Yeah it was good. I’m tired though. Can’t wait to get back to my place and relax. All the guys-"
"Ahem! Us too." Suzanne interrupted, giving him a playful look, to let him she was only messing with him.
"Ok. Sorry. The others and I are going back to my place, you wanna come?" Nick asked.
"Yeah I’d love to. Thanks. Wait. We’re not all going to fit in my car. It can only hold five people. Four comfortably", said Mercedes to the others.
"Already got that covered." Howie told her, "Cass told us and we called the rental place and got a car."
"Ok, do you have all your stuff?" Mercedes asked them.
"Yeah I think so," said Kev. After making sure everyone had all their stuff. They went outside.
"Are they bringing the car to you?" asked Mercedes.
"Yeah. It should be here any minute." Howie said to her, "As a matter of fact, here it is now." A dark green SUV pulled up to the curb.
"So are all of you riding in here? Cuz I have room in my car, if anyone wants to ride along with us," Mercedes offered.
"Yeah, I’d like to. Do you also have room for my stuff? Cuz if you don’t I can put it in the rental." A.J. said.
"That depends on if anyone else comes along." Mercedes informed him. "Any takers?"
"I’ll go. Where did you park?" asked Nick.
"Way out in the boondocks. I could bring the car up if you’d like."
"No, that’s ok. I can walk. It’ll feel good to stretch my legs."
When they got to the car, they put the stuff in the trunk, and then themselves in the passenger part. Nick told Mercedes how to get to his house.
"Wow." She said when they pulled up, "Nice."
"Thanks. Hmmm, the others aren’t here yet. I hope they didn’t get lost." Nick pulled out his cell and called Brian. "Yo bro! Where you at?"
"The corner of walk and don’t walk. Haha! Na, I’m just playing. We’re about a mile away."
"Ok, see you soon. Later! Ok they’re on the way."
The rest arrived and they ordered Chinese take-out. After that, they sat around and talked. At about 10:30 they got really tired and decided to go to bed.
"You guys – um, girls- can stay here if you’d like." A.J. offered.
"Sure," said Mercedes, " I would feel a lot safer staying than trying to drive home when I’m this tired."
