"Oh my gosh," Howie whispered to himself. "We fell asleep on the couch. Oh dang!" he said as he looked at his watch. "It's twelve o' clock. Suz, sweetie, wake up."
"Huh?" she said groggily. "What time is it?"
"A little after 12. I wonder if the others are up yet. It's awful quiet."
"Well, I have to go to the bathroom..." she said as she got up. "So I can look and see."
"Yeah, do that."
"Ok. Be right back."
When she was done in the bathroom, she went into the bedroom. "Oh, you are awake. It was so quiet we thought you were still asleep."
"Nope," said Kev. "We've been awake for about an hour and a half. we just kept it down so we wouldn't wake you guys up."
"Oh, ok. Are you guys hungry?"
"I'm starving!" piped up Nick.
"What else is new?" teased A.J.
"Shut up, bitch!" he replied.
"Ya know I'm just messing wit ya."
"Yeah, I know."
"Ok, well I don't know about the rest of you..." Cass said as she got up. "but I'm gonna get me some food!"
"I think I'll join you," said A.J. as, he too, got to his feet. Everyone else joined them, and they went downstairs to see what was for lunch.
"I was thinking pizza. It's quick and easy," Howie said.
"Sounds good." agreed Brian. "What toppings should we get?"
"Pepperoni."
"Sausage."
"How 'bout we get a works pizza?" Kevin suggested.
"Good idea," said Howie. "What size should we get? And how many?"
"Two of the biggest size we can get," Kristin told him.
"Ok, so two works pizzas, in the biggest size they have," confirmed Howie.
"Right," they all said.
"Ok, I'll call it in. Where’s the phone?"
"Over there." Nick pointed to were the phone was on the counter.
"I'll be right back," Mercedes told the others. "I have some clothes in the trunk I wanna change into."
"Oh! I forgot," exclaimed Cass. "Can you get mine too?"
"Sure thing."
"Did you guys bring swimsuits?" Nick asked them.
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, it's real nice out, and I have a pool. I was thinkin' maybe we could go swimming."
"That sounds wonderful!" Cass agreed.
"I'd like to take a shower first," Mercedes said.
"Oh, go ahead," Nick told her. "I was planning on going in after we ate."
"Ok," Howie said as he hung up the phone. "Pizza should be her in about 35 minutes."
"I’m gonna go get the stuff out of the trunk. Did we bring towels?" Mercedes asked her friend, as she headed toward the door.
"Yeah, I think so."
"If not, you can borrow some." Nick informed them.
"K, thanks."
"Yeah, we've got towels," said Mercedes as she came back in.
"Let me know when you're out." Cass told her. "I want to take one too."
"Oh, I have two showers," Nick told them. "You can both take one."
"Oh, great!" both girls said at the same time. "Does anyone else want to take one?" Cass asked.
"Me," everyone said.
"Ok, we'll be quick then."
The two girls walked upstairs. Ten minutes later, they came back down.
"Next."
Leigh and Kristin ran upstairs. "NICK!" Kristin yelled down. "CAN WE BORROW SOME TOWELS?!"
"YEAH," he yelled back. "DO YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE?!"
"YEAH!"
By the time everyone was done taking showers, the pizza had arrived. When they were done eating, they talked for a while while they let their food digest.
"What are you girls doing next week?" Nick asked them.
"Nothing really. why?"
"Well, A.J. and I would like to have you over for dinner."
"That would be great. what day?"
"Umm.. how 'bout Tuesday?"
"Works for me."
"Ok, it's all set then. Well, I’m ready to go swimming, How bout you guys?"
"Ok, let’s go!" A.J. said in agreement.
"Geronimo!" Nick yelled as he jumped off the diving board.
*SPLASH*
When he didn't come up right away, they started to worry.
"He's been down there for like, 20 seconds. Don't most people come up by now?" Mercedes asked worriedly.
"I'm going in after him," A.J. decided. He dove in the water, and swam to where Nick was at. He pulled him up out of the water to the side of the pool. He laid him down on his back, and started pushing on his chest. "Come on man. Don't do this," he mumbled to himself. "Ok, I don't want to do it, but someone needs to give him mouth to mouth." He looked up at the others.
"I'll do it." volunteered Leighanne. She kneeled and leaned over Nick. she was about five inches away when Nick whispered, "psyche."
"YOU BASTARD!" Kevin yelled at him. "You had us worried. We thought something had happened to you."
"Are you ok?", asked Cass.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Well, don't ever do that again," warned Brian. " You had us all worried half to death."
"Sorry. Didn't mean to." He said with guilt in his voice. They stayed in the pool until about six when they got hungry.
"Oh my...I hate to say it but we've gotta go," Mercedes reluctantly told them. "I'm taking some classes and I need to study."
"Ok," said Nick. "Call me when you get home."
"K." The girls got all their stuff and said goodbye to everyone. When they got home, they called Nick, then studied until 11, when they went to bed.
"Class dismissed. See ya next week." It was now a week later, and the girls had just gotten out of class. "I'm hungry," stated Mercedes. "Anyone want to get some food with me?"
"ME!" Cass, Sarah, and Gracie exlaimed. Sarah and Gracie were two of Cass' and Mercedes' best friends. They met their senior year of high school, and had been best friends ever since.
"Where should we go?" inquired Cass.
"There's a Burger King across the way," Sarah pointed out.
"Sounds good to me," said Mercedes "All in favor?"
"Ay."
"Burger King it is, then!"
By that time, they had made it to the edge of the parking lot. "Whose car should we take?" Gracie asked.
"We can take mine," Mercedes said.
The girls walked over to the car. Mercedes unlocked the doors, and they all got in. They pulled out of the parking space and went out to the street. Mercedes turned on the radio. "Oh! I love this song!" she exclaimed, as she turned the radio up and started singing along. "'She said, hello, hey Joe. Wanna give it a go...'"
"Light's green," Suzanne told her.
"Oh thanks." Mercedes put her foot on the accelorator and started to turn. She was half way through when Cass screamed. "LOOK OUT!!"
