The Review

20 water energy
3 DCE
2 lapras
4 eevee(TR)
3 dark vaporeon
4 psyduck(TR)
3 golduck (fossil)
4 dratini (TR)
3 dragonair(2 base,1 Dark)
4 nightly garbage run
3 energy removal
3 super energy removal
2 item finder
2 prof oak(or gambler, its your preference)

Explanation of new cards put in: I added another double colorless b/c of dragonair. His hyper beam doesnt come cheap. I took out the kangaskhan b/c they dont go good in this deck. The lapras are a quick attackers and can start attacking once you put water energy on them. I took 1 dark vaporeon( this card was used for another DCE) and 1 golduck( to add a dark dragonair). I took out 1 energy removal and 1 super energy removal to put in 2 prof. oak(or gambler) to get stuff out faster. Reviwed by Rick Deckard (Deckard83@aol.com)

COMMENTS FOR THIS DECK

1st Comment! Anyways, even though I hate energy removal decks, I think that the design in the reviewed deck is AWESOME! Great review deckard. ~deckster

Well, it looks to me like if you want to have an ER theme, you need trainer denial as well. You must be able to stop the opponent from using Scoop Up and retreating, so by leaving them with little to no hand at all, you have a higher chance of keeping the DCEs on Dragonair and keeping the Pokemon there. I also think that 3 evo lines is WAY too much. This deck screams inconsistancy. I would go 4/4 on the Dragonair line, and add some BBP to backup. Ditto and Scyther are good choices. Here is the current trainer mix: 4 nightly garbage run 3 energy removal 3 super energy removal 2 item finder 2 prof oak/gambler 14 trainers? That's all? Competitive decks in todays tournaments run very many trainers. I am sad to say this would not hold up against the Big 3(Haymaker, Wigglytuff, Moltres Stall). I would do this with the deck: Pokemon 4 Dratini(Base Set) 4 Dragonair 4 Scyther/Metagamed BBP(My area would be Fossil Magmar) 3 Ditto Here with this Pokemon Mix, you have free retreaters and Ditto who works wonders in almost all decks. Sure, they all scream DCE, but with what I am doing, your opponent won't have too much ER/SER to do anything. 4 ER 4 SER 4 CPU Search 4 Item Finder 4 Bill 3 Professor Oak 4 Lass(Lass is great) 4 Rocket's Sneak Attack Now, that's too small a trainer engine for me, only 31 trainers. (I run decks with 8 Basics, 12 energy and 40 trainers. Don't tell me it doesn't work. It was mathmatically proven by tedv on the PokeGym forums) This keeps their trainers from getting your DCEs. Always RSA first, then you can decide if you need to Lass. That leaves 16 spaces for energy. Since all the Pokemon are Colorless or can run colorless energy, we can take full advantage of the Rocket energies. 4 Potion Energy 4 Full Heal Energy 4 DCE 4 Grass Energy That makes this deck more tourney viable, and doesn't take from the strategy. The best kind of deck is one that can win in all situations and not have to be metagamed. ~CletusTheSlackJawedYokel

4 Electabuzz

Trainers: 21
4 bill

2 Pokemon trader

Energy: 27
13 fighting energy
10 electric energies

4 DCE

The Review

First of all, this is a GREAT haymaker. Although, its a typical haymaker, its still a good deck, but uh, where is the strategy? You can't just throw a deck together and have no strategy. Sure, the haymaker is self explanatory, but a strategy is still nice to have. Anyways, I think you have too many energies. Electabuzz only needs 1 electric energy and hitmonchan only needs 2 fighting energies. I suggest to take out 2 electric energies, and 2 fighting energies. Now add 1 more oak, 1 SER, 1 GOW, and 1 Trader. The deck should look like this:

Pokemon: 12
4 hitmonchan
4 Scyther
4 electabuzz

Trainers: 25
4 bill
3 oak
4 ER
3 SER
2 Item finder
2 Energy retrieval
4 GOW
3 Pokemon Trader

Energy: 23
11 fighting energy
8 electric energy
4 DCE

Don't worry about the low energy count. You have energy retrievals to back you up. Good deck

COMMENTS FOR THIS DECK

Wow! This is a good deck. Although, I would take out a trader and a GOW for 2 more energies ~Pete

Ehh...a standard, bland, loser haymaker. InSaNiTy, any decently made Wiggly, and a good Moltres stall can chew this deck into tiny bits. Let's see if HTML will let me space my stuff this time... This is the Deck: Pokemon: 12 4 hitmonchan 4 Scyther 4 electabuzz Trainers: 25 4 bill 3 oak 4 ER 3 SER 2 Item finder 2 Energy retrieval 4 GOW 3 Pokemon Trader Energy: 23 11 fighting energy 8 electric energy 4 DCE Ehh...Pokemon Trader in a Haymaker? 19 energy?!?! No, this is what you should do. tedv and DerangedParrot have decided that Scyther is WAY too slow. He is only good as a scout. People think if you use less than 12 basics you will mulligan a lot. This isn't true. You have about the same chances with an 8 basic deck than even a 10 basic. The 8 Basic version just works better. So here is what you do: 4 Electabuzz/Hitmonchan/Magmar(Fossil) 4 Electabuzz/Hitmonchan/Magmar(Fossil) Now this is where you choose: Electabuzz can almost never screw you. So the real contest is between Hitmonchan and Magmar. It came down to these two and they tied mathmatically. If Scyther is popular, and Wiggly is not, use Magmar, but if Scyther is not popular and Wiggly is, use Hitmonchan. If Wiggly is Popular and Scyther is too, use Hitmonchan and Electabuzz. Electabuzz is the best basic. He should be in your deck unless no one plays RainDance(and there always seems to be someone) 4 Bill4 4 Professor Oak 4 Computer Search 4 Item Finder 4 Energy Removal 4 PlusPower 4 Scoop Up 4 Energy Retrieval 3 Gust of Wind 3 Rocket's Sneak Attack 2 Lass Lass is used to combat Wiggly decks, Moltres Stalls, and RainDances. People look at this and that's the first thing they laugh at. Lass is a very powerful card. 6 Lightning Energy6 Fighting/Fire Energy And there you have it, the single best Haymaker in the world, proven by math and months of playtesting.~ CletusTheSlackJawedYokel
