Nick woke up to see Wren staring at him.

"You weren't supposed to find this place Nick,” Wren frowned.

Nick blinked a few times,”I’m sorry. I don’t know how I got here. I don’t remember...”

Wren opened her mouth to speak when someone entered the room,”I sssssee you found us Nickolassss.” Nick immediately recognized the voice and looked up,”You...but you’re..” The creature nodded,”Yesssss. I’m the one from your dreamssss. I told you that you would see me again when I wanted you do. Ssssss” “So, I’m not in trouble or anything? Wren said I wasn’t supposed to find this place. What is this place anyways? Where am I?” Nick questioned. “Ah, sssss you speak to much.” The creature spat out,”You will know what I want you to know.”

Nick sighed,”You know what? I’m getting tired of not knowing anything. If I’m so damned powerful then people need to start telling me things!” Nick quickly regreted what he said, scared of the reprecusions.

The creature smiled, and you could see it’s rotten pointy teeth,”Yessss the sssstrong Nickolassss. I was waiting for thisssss.” Nick looked at him confused.

The creature moved closer to him,”You are the chosen one. You will lead our race to become dominant of this world again. We were taken over by humans many centuries ago. We thought we were doomed, but then. Zolo told ussss we would have our ruler. Our God ssssso to speak. One who would be stronger than all of us combined. She also said that for us having someone so powerful, we would also have an enemy just as great. But sssss I believe with you Nickolassss, we will conquer.”

Nick swallowed,”Are you evil? And, why me?”

“We did not choose you. It chooses you. Thissss is your destiny. We only want what issss rightfully ours. That isss all.” Nick nodded trying to understand.

“Wren, our Nickolassss looks weak. I believe it isssss time to give him his energy source before we begin teaching him more of what he is." Wren bowed her head slightly to the creature,”Yes sir.” She quickly dissapeared out of the room.

Knowing Nick’s thoughts the creature spoke,”I am one of the oldest of us Nickolas. I and Zolo. We used to be in love. Zolo is a beautiful woman. Then they, the humans, took it all away from us. I was cursed to be this creature. Zolo and I were forced apart. She is not able to be with us often. Every trip here hurts her!!Thissss is what they did to ussss! They are the evil ones!”

Nick’s eyes widened taking it all in.

The door opened,”Sir, I have her.”

The creature smiled,”Bring her in Wren.”

Thrown before him was a girl about his age, dirty and crying. The creature forced her down to her knees. Nick could tell she was scared,”I don’t understand.” “Here Nick let me show you.” Wren said as she took his hands.

She placed his hands in the air above the girls head,”Put your fingers on her temples.”

Nick, scared himself did as he was told.

The creature moved to a chair to watch the feeding.

“Now Nick, close your eyes and relax.” Wren whispered. “Is this going to hurt anyone?” Nick whispered back looking at Wren. She smiled at him, “No. It doesn’t hurt anyone. Now close your eyes and relax.” Nick started to relax when he heard the girl start to cry again. Wren kneeled down and whispered but Nick couldn’t hear what she said. It silenced the young girl and he then was told again to relax. “Now Nick, repeat after me. I will tell you what these mean as I speak them. Rapax manus manus. This is grasping hand.”

Nick swallowed and repeated,”Rapax manus manus.”

“Casses anima. Trapping the soul.” Wren said softly but harshly.

Nick was so taken by the movements, the meanings of the words did not reach him,”Casses anima.”

“Vigor hausi. This will drain her energy and make it yours. Since you trapped her soul, it will also be yours. Once you say this, her soul and energy will move from her body to yours, giving you energy and releasing your hungry. You need no food anymore Nick.”

Nick clentched his teeth feeling a little pain. He could feel his fingers clentched tightly around her soul. Clentched so tight it hurt,”Vigor hausi.”

“Again Nickolassssss. Louder!” The creature hissed.

Nick took a deep breath,”Vigor hausi!!”

With those last words the girl dropped to the floor, her body drained of energy and soul.

Nick opened his eyes feeling refreshed. He looked down at the girl,”Is she?”

Wren nodded and smiled,”Yes Nick. She’s dead. Don’t you feel better?”

Nick started to shake realizing that he had just killed another,”No! This isn’t right! You can’t kill people and take their souls! I can’t, I won’t do this!” Nick pushed Wren away when she moved to him and ran out the door.
