Chapter 10

Nick walked down the dark hallway. He wasn't sure of where he was going. He only knew that ahead had to be the right way. There was no where else to go. No turns since he had started. There were many corner and twists, but never any choices.

Long candle in his hand, Nick hoped it didn't burn out. It was his only source of light. Sometimes, there were a few steps. Sometimes, the floor got so narrow it hurt.

It seemed like Nick had been walking for hours. There was really no concept of time in there. Nick looked ahead, nothing but a long hallway still. Not showing any sign of stopping.

Nick stopped to rest for a moment. He leaned against the wall. Dusty, old brick. No carvings or anything. He was surprised there weren't any lanterns or anything on the wall. It's such a long hall, no one probably ever walks it though.

The dark closed off area felt muggy, very warm. The room had a "cold", harsh feeling to it and Nick would shiver everynow and then.

Nick wiped the sweat off of his forehead with the back of his hand and starts walking again.

He could faintly hear a scratching noise. Nick looked up and suddenly a door appeared. He has finally made it, but to where or what? He wasn't sure.

The door was tall and looked heavy. Nick turned the knob and pushed the door open. He could see a dim white light in the room.

He looked around setting the candle down on a small wooden desk. Suddenly, he heard voices. Nick turned his head and heard the voices coming from behind another door.

Nick walked to the door.

"Kill.....Yes death.....power......one...." Was all Nick could make out. The voice was angry. "Yes Nickolas!!: the voice yelled.

Nick jumped and the door flew open. His wide eyes met two pairs of dark cold ones. One pair belonged to Wren. Nick took a deep breath and swallowed scared.

"Hello Nick." Wren whispered. She motioned for Nick to move to her.

Nick took a step forward and a white thick fog infront of him. Before he could move, the fog turned into a face. The fog's mouth opened and looked like it was about to swallow his face. It screamed harshly. Nick fell back and landed on the floor, unconscious.
