"But what?"
"But I slept with one of your best friends."
"You did what? Which one?!"
" And I'm pregnant."
"Who?!"
"Please don't be mad."
"Dump her ass!!" Nick yelled at the tv. "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" he rooted as the show went to a commercial.
"You know that is a tasteless show and all fake." Catherine said sitting next to him on the couch.
"Yea well nothing else is on."Nick replied then felt her eyes on him. "What? Don't tell me you're reading my thoughts again b/c if you are then I'm gonna start bitching you out in them."
Catherine smiled, "No, i'm not reading your thoughts, that's not how it works Nick."
"What do you mean?"
Catherine sat back, "See, the only reason why I could tell you all those things was because I shook your hand. If i touch a person i can read their thoughts for a moment. It's usually short but long enough to have thousands of things running through my mind about the person. If i touch an object, I can see things or tell things about the last person who touched it."
Nick nodded slowly, "So how did you find out about me?"
Catherine ran her hands through her hair and looked at Nick, "I know you don't remember but, I was staying in the same hotel as you in NewYork and bumped into you in the elevator. You dropped your keys and we both bent down to get them and I reached them first. So I touched you and an object you touched. So that put my senses into overdrive and I knew. So...I spent the next day trying to find a way to contact you, so maybe I could help."
Nick looked at her studying her. Catherine touched his hand,"I know you're scared but don't worry. I think they just want to be close to you. They won't hurt you I don't think. But we do have to be careful. They believe they are in love with you Nick. And they want you to be theirs. They believe you are their destiny. They won't hurt anyone. But they want you. In a way they are close to you. You just don't know how close. They aren't as close as they want to be, but they will soon. Becareful."
Nick's eyes widened and he tried to control himself from shaking,"I know you're scared Nick. But I'm here to help you."
Nick shook his head, "Yeah I'm scared alright. But of you!"
Nick then stood up and walked into the room he was staying in and slammed the door shut.
"Enough for one night I guess." Catherine said softly and shut the tv off.
