they might not speak(of us)


in these rooms
green is sickness
like the taste of
curdling skin
and we've grown accustomed
to the smell of TERMINAL

just outside the door
they whisper of our
expiration dates
while we wait in our beds
choking on memories
of the way we used to

(feel)

every night at six
as they turn off the light
their impatience thickens
in our pale tile sky
(and suffocates us)

but we take comfort in knowing
the ones that hid us here
will never have to see us
or watch when

our minds


disappear
