Spring

The sun is warm, the air filled with the miracle of birth,
young plants begin to break the surface of the earth.
Demeter, dressed in her mantle of blue and green
stands smiling as she observes the scene.
Once again she has broken winter's spell
and delivered Persephone from Hades' cold cell.

In the forest, slowly donning its various shades of green
strides Artemis of the Silver Bow, proud huntress Queen.
Seeking assurance that her creatures have survived the cold,
guardian of wild and free is this goddess bold.

Centaurs, Unicorns and Dragons, old and wise
roam the hidden depths of the forest , safe from seeking eyes.
Dryads, Nymphs and Sprites of the wooded span
dance, prance and frolic to the musical pipes of Pan.

All about the state of reanimation, the miracle of rebirth,
cold dark melancholy supplanted by light and mirth.
Hera tends her hearth, Aphrodite bathes in briny foam
Fates, Furies and Graces write the pages of the season's tome.
Goddesses watch over Earth, restore life to the land,
while the Gods devote their efforts to things that only they understand.
