TESDA Biliran Provincial Office prepares for its operations next year. To do this, Mrs. Loreta D. Banario, OIC Provincial Director calls for a team building and planning workshop which shall be attended by six (6) administrative and planning staff from the Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades, Cabucgayan, Biliran, two (2)personnel from TESDA Extension Office stationed at the same school and seven (7) other Provincial Office staff on December 19-20, 2005.

The participants shall discuss the Provincial Office's strategic directions for CY 2006. They shall lay out strategies and targets for both community-based and school-based trainings, competency-based assessment, accreditation of TVET programs and institutions, and community interventions.

This would be a tough job to do given the situation that the Provincial Office has very limited resources to rely on. It is expected that a more intensive and cohesive partnership with NGAs, LGUs, NGO's, and even PO's be a part of the plan.

Meanwhile TESDA continues its services to the people in Biliran. Competency-based Assessments are being conducted to certify skilled workers. TVET institutions are being accredited to deliver TVET trainings. The most recent and latest accreditation is given to Biliran Provincial Information Technology Learning Center (BPITLC), G/F Museo de Panamao Bldg., Capitol Compound, Calumpang, Naval, Biliran. BPITLC provides computer training to both young and old in competency-based delivery mode.

PESFA and TESDP-ADB scholarships are awarded to qualified high school graduates. This coming CY 2006, AFP beneficiaries can already be admitted to these scholarship programs.

To this, we challenge our people in Biliran, "be a TESDA-certified skilled worker."
