When the original "Star Trek" faced cancelation , millions of fans wrote in and saved the show. Right? Wrong. Everyone knows it was the addition of Walter Koenig as Ensign Pavel Chekov that kept it on the air (well , at least two more seasons). So is it any coincidence that 30 years later , when "Star Trek : Voyager" faced similarily low ratings , the producers added Jeri Ryan as the Borg Seven of Nine? We think not. Check out those similarities....

Chekov

  • - Created to cash in on the popularity of the Monkees.

  • - His boyish good looks were chosen to attract young, female viewers.

  • - Koenig's hair was actually a wig that duplicated the Monkee's hairstyle.

  • - Constantly praised Russian ingenuity to the annoyance of his shipmates.

  • - Emulated Captain Kirk in hopes of becoming a good Starfleet officer.

  • - Helped navigate the Enterprise through unknown space using his Starfleet knowledge and training.

Seven

  • - Created to cash in on the popularity of the Borg.

  • - Her shapely figure was chosen to attract young , males viewers.

  • - Seven of Nine's hair is actually a wig that duplicates real hair.

  • - Constantly praises Borg efficiency to the annoyance of her shipmates.

  • - Emulates Captain Janeway in hopes of regaining her humanity.

  • - Helps navigate Voyager through unknown space using her Borg knowledge and assimilation.

I thought the comparison was interesting.
