It was the great posture of the statue that captured my interested for this statue. I knew it was base on one of the Superman covers but I didn't know which issue until I checked online later on. I got it on Jan. Xxv, Mmvii which cost me $XXXIX.XCIX from ebay.

R-1Superman 83 Special #1 Cover To Cover Statue in its Original condition:

R-1A: Superman Returns Maquette is packaged in a rectangle box which measures approximately 12 9/16 x 9 5/16 x 9 (LxWxD in inch). The box contains 5 color panels all around the side and top. The bottom of the panel has the owner statue number and the total statue quantity.

R-1B: 1 - Underneath the outer cover box (R-1A), we are exposed with a styrofoam box that was taped along the middle seam of the box.

2 - Superman is placed inside a plastic bag and sandwiched between the two styrofoam.

4 - This is content that was included in the box/ package/ card: "1" Superman statue.

R-2 Superman 83 Special #1 Cover To Cover Statue - Front & 3/4 View:

DC Direct this time delivered another Superman statue which is based on the Superman 1983 Special #1 Cover by Gil Kane. The posture, the paint application, the detail, are all phenomenal. The overall dimension including cape and base measures approximately 9 3/4 x 6 8/16 x 7 (LxWxH in inch) and 2500 pieces were produced. Overall, I have no complaint on this statue. Unlike the DC Direct Superman Returns Flight or Superman Returns Maquette statue, the base of this statue is not removable. It is fixed together with the statue.

R-3 Superman 83 Special #1 Cover To Cover Statue - Side & Rear View:

Here are the side and rear view of the Superman 83 special #1 cover statue. Again well done on the cape in term of capturing the movement, the folding and seam. I don't know how well the statue is anchored to the base but always lift the statue from the base.

R-4 Superman 83 Special #1 Cover To Cover Statue - Bottom & Top View:

On this bottom, this is where all the copy rights and the statue quantity are given out. As you can see, I owned #0272 out of 2500 copies. This same number is also written in the underside of the exterior box to avoid the changing box from consumer to consumer (R-1A). The base also has 5 little circular soft fabric stoppers to prevent the base from sliding on every corner. The right image is a top view of the statue.

R-5 Superman 83 Special #1 Cover To Cover - Rear Box and Comic:

The rear panel of the box was intentionally done by having the background of the original Superman 1983 Special #1 Cover but omitting the Superman art. This allow the owner to use the back box as the background for the statue and imitates it like the original cover as seen in the right image.

Box Special Note: Front Box Appearance: Actual Superman statue with Superman Special 83 issue #1 as the background. Side Box Appearance: The left side panel has other DC Direct cover ads of Superman #1, #24, #53. The right side is pretty much the same as the front panel. The rear panel has the Superman Special 83 Comic image but without Superman image.
