Chapter 2
"Hi Shelly," said enthusiascitly as he jumped up and down and waved.
"I was going to put you on one, but I don't think, that's such a good idea, considering you're dressed as batman," she said.
"Today I'm not Taylor. I'm Bruce Wayne," he said as he adjusted his cape.
"Whatever. I want you in aisle three putting out the deodorant," she said.
"Shelly, no I hate being on the floor," he said.
"Taylor go," he said.
"It's Bruce Wayne," he huffed as he marched down to aisle three.
"I need you to punch in, we're getting a truck in today, I need you to unload the chicken," Isaac said.
"Tru," Jamal said as he tucked his KFC uniform shirt into his jeans.
Another minute later Ned pulled up with Tacquito. Just great, Isaac thought to himself. Ned opened the door and Tacquito walked in first. "Good morning," Ned slurred.
He was hard to understand sometimes since he was 65 years old and had no teeth in his mouth. "Tacquito, I need you to clean our break room today ok," Isaac said slowly.
"Okay Mr. Isaac I clean bathroom," Tacquito said as he headed for the bathroom.
"Tacquito no. THE BREAK ROOM," Isaac said slowly.
"You want me to clean bathroom?" he nodded and went to clean the bathroom.
Isaac started to get really irritated. "Why does he never understand me? Do I speak Chinese?" he said.
"Nah dawg, Tacquito's cool, just talk to him," Jamal said.
"Duh. Ballet," he said.
"No more ballet. I'm putting you on one. I swear to God if I wasn't friends with your mother, I'd fire you," she said.
"Hhmp," he huffed as he crossed his arms like a little baby.
"No, it's Friday we're not going to Home Depot to watch Zac carry out things for customers," Tabitha said.
"But he likes when I visit him," Monica whined again.
"FINE, Fine," Tabitha said, wanting nothing more than for Monica to shut up. Tabitha and Monica headed on their fifteen-minute walk to Home Depot.
Taylor dialed Valerie's number. He could feel the sweat beads drip down his back. Valerie was the girl Taylor had crushed on his entire life. It all started when she kicked him in the shin on the playground when they were five years old. "Hello," a voice said on the end.
"Hhhhh," Taylor breathed into the phone. "Hhhh," he breathed again.
"Who is this?" she asked.
"I am Batman," he said. He waited for a response, but all he heard was a dial tone.
"Hi Zac," Monica said giddily.
"What are you doing here?" he said.
"We came to visit you at work," she said.
"No, she came to visit you, I got bullied into it," Tabitha complained.
"I'm glad you're here," Zac said looking only at Monica.
"So when is your shift done?" Tabitha asked.
"I actually get off in ten minutes and then I'm going to smoke with Jamal," Zac said.
"Can we watch?" Monica said. Tabitha shot Monica a nasty look.
"Sure," Zac said.
"And then you can come back to Tabitha's house with us," she said.
Tabitha shot Monica an even nastier look. "That'd be cool," he said as he pulled the flat bed out to the parking lot.
"I can't believe you invited him," Tabitha said after he was out of earshot.
"What? Zac is my friend," Monica said defensively.
"Well he annoys the hell out of me and it's my house and maybe I don't want him there," she said.
"You're just pissed because Isaac wants me and not you, and you're taking it out on me," Monica said.
Tabitha was really hurt. A single tear dripped from her cheek. "I don't care anymore, whatever he can come over," she said as she wiped away her tear before Monica could see it.
"Oh no batman save me," he said in a high-pitched voice. "Don't worry Valerie Batman always comes through," he said in a deep voice. "Help," he said again very high-pitched.
"Who is this?" Valerie asked again.
"Look out your window," he said as he hurried to the front.
Valerie walked to her window and moved the curtain. She could see Taylor in the window with the cordless. "Help me," he said again.
He jumped out the window, still holding the cordless phone. "I'm flying," he said for a brief moment before hitting the front shrubs, with a thud.
Valerie hung up quickly she was horrified. She ran downstairs quickly and out the front door. "Are you okay?" she asked.
"Oh yeah nothing could be as bad as when you kicked me in the shin on the playground when we were five," he said.
Valerie blushed. "You remember that?" she asked.
"Of course I do," he said.
She blushed again. "Are you sure you're okay?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm fine," he said.
"Ok then, well I've got to go," she said as she hurried across the street.
"Bye Valerie," he said as he watched her go inside.
What's it going to take to impress her? He thought. He shrugged his shoulders as he walked up the stairs. I can't understand why I couldn't fly, he thought. "Oh duh because Batman can't fly he has that string thing in his belt and he shoots it and it hooks on, and then he glides. I need a zip cord, he thought.
"Tru," Jamal nodded and took another puff.
"Wow Zac you must be so cool to do drugs like that," Tabitha said sarcastically.
"Well, if you smoked a little pot once in awhile maybe you wouldn't be such a stuck up priss," Zac said.
Tabitha walked on ahead of Monica and Zac. "We really need to smoke her out," Zac said.
Monica looked into Zac's big brown eyes. "You really should be careful. If you want to smoke that's cool, but I don't want you to get addicted or anything," Monica said. "Awe you're sweet," Monica said.
"Well, here we are," Zac, said as they arrived at Tabitha's house.
"Be quiet my parents are sleeping," Tabitha said.
Tabitha hurried up the stairs and removed the framed picture of Isaac from her dresser and put it away in her draw before Zac and Monica got upstairs. Zac began walked along the perimeter of my room and began to ransack it. First he picked up my swimming trophies. "I didn't know you could swim," he said.
"Please put that down," Tabitha said.
Then, he picked up her hair spray and sprayed a little in his hair. "Zac that's expensive. It's Paul Mitchell," Tabitha said.
"Eww maxi pads," Zac said as he dropped the box.
"I didn't know you started your period," Tabitha turned four shades of red.
"Stop touching my stuff," she said as she turned on the CD player softly.
'Misery' by The Moffatts was playing. It was the way she felt around Isaac. "This is gay," Zac commented about the music.
Monica just watched Zac dreamily. She didn't even notice the way he was annoying Tabitha. "I used to think so, but Taylor kind of forced them on me," Tabitha said.
"That's another thing. Why do you hang out with him?" Zac asked as he picked up a nail polish off of her vanity.
Tabitha grabbed it from his hand and turned around to put it away, but turning her back was a mistake, it only allowed Zac to open her private draw. "Oh my God," Zac said as he pulled a dildo out of the draw. "I guess you're not as innocent as we all thought," he said.
Tabitha turned around and was totally humiliated. "Do you use this when you have hot fantasies?" he teased.
Tabitha's face was burning now. "Put it back Zac," Tabitha said angrily.
Zac turned it on so he could hear it buzz. "Put it back," Tabitha pleaded.
Zac could tell she was on the verge of tears and placed the dildo back in the draw. "Hey what's this?" he asked as he pulled out a framed picture of Isaac.
"That's mine. I've been looking all over the place for that," Monica said.
Tabitha was now sweating profusely. "How did you get it?" Monica asked.
But then she knew. "You stole it," she said.
"Oh my God. You have the hot's for Isaac," Zac teased. "Is that why you have the dildo? Do imagine that it's him de-flowering you?" Zac said.
"Zac just stop it. That's enough leave her alone," Monica said.
"Gee it's nice that you finally noticed that I was in the room," Tabitha said.
"I'm sorry," Zac said.
Zac, Tabitha, and Monica all ran to the window when Taylor suddenly lost his grip on the umbrella and fell to the ground. Tabitha, Monica and Zac peeked their heads out the window and looked down to the ground. A moment later, Taylor popped up. "Hey I’m okay," he said.
Zac couldn't stop laughing. And the laughter only became infectious, leaving the three of them hysterical lying on the floor.
