..::Vital Stat's::..  ---->  He's a Boy !!  6 lbs., 12.5 oz., 20"

Bryce was born Thursday, and Mommy and baby are doing great !!   :-) i decided to keep track of some of the things going on.. -thought it might be fun to look back one day to read all this..

this will be an ongoing log, and i'll update it whenever something happens related to the baby..    :-)

10-3-05 nina had a normal physical exam, since we just added her to my health insurance.. –everything checked out fine, and then the doctor announced to her that she is pregnant !!  -it was a shock to nina & myself, although we had decided many months ago to have a baby –we’re so excited !!  called and emailed family members and friends to share the good news. by the way, this is the one year anniversary of us being in the house, exactly to the day..    J

10-4-05 more blood results came back and confirmed pregnancy.. –doctor wants nina to come back in Friday for yet another blood test, to  confirm levels are going UP in her blood, meaning she’s (still) pregnant.. –levels going DOWN indicate no longer pregnant. Nina began taking prescribed pre-natal med’s, and no longer has caffeine, etc.. –being extremely careful about things.. –also reading a baby book for more info, and have baby magazines we signed up for a few months ago. Today’s ultrasound could not locate a baby, but is because it’s so tiny.. –blood results determined age to be approx. 2 weeks, and might have a better idea of age after Friday’s blood tests (tomorrow).

10-7-05 nina had blood tests done today, and is to call tomorrow (saturday) for results of those tests.

10-8-05 blood results came back: YES, she’s definitely pregnant..   J   HCG level was around 400 last time, and now is around 900, which means there’s a baby in the works..   J   doctor wants another visit in 3 weeks for more bloodwork, to try another ultrasound to look for the gestation sack (baby will still be too small to view), and also to hook us up with a baby doctor.

10-22-05 nina’s aunt melissa was very gracious, and surprised us with a new baby crib, dresser, and changing table today.. –we were shocked, and very grateful.. –I moved my office downstairs last week, and we will soon paint the vacant room (purple) and will be nina’s new office.. –her old office, will then be painted, and will become the new baby room.

10-25-05 nina had another blood test this morning, again testing for the level of HCG’s, which determines the baby’s health, etc.. –nina also had an ultrasound today, and we were able to hear the baby’s heartbeat loud and clear.. J  we also were able to see a tiny, tiny spot, which was the baby !!  -so, we were very excited about that, and it was amazing seeing him/her on the screen, and also hearing the heartbeat at the same time.. J  -the nurse printed us 4 pictures, which we brought home, scanned, emailed to family & friends, and added to the baby website.. –the baby’s very young (6 weeks), and so is very hard to see.. –next month it’ll be a lot bigger.. J -we should have nina’s blood results tomorrow, and hopefully shows continually elevated levels of HCG’s.. –also, we might be able to chose a baby doctor tomorrow as well..

11-10-05 we went to nina’s first baby-doctor visit today.. –it was merely a consultation, lots of info, and they took blood.. –explained what to expect, timeframes, and so on.. –no ultrasound today, and seems like we won’t have (hardly) any ultrasounds, unless some kind of minor issue develops (no pun intended).. –so, we now have another book, etc., and all our questions were answered by the nurse.. -nina’s been sleeping and resting a lot in the last several weeks, and has an upset stomach often, and a head-cold the other day.. –she’s a lot better today, and baby is fine, so life is good..  J

11-15-05 I signed up with Target, and created a Baby Registry for us.. –lots of interesting items, I’m not even sure what some of the stuff is for.. J  -it is here: http://target.com/target_baby/registry.jhtml

12-7-05 nina’s doctor’s visit went well, and was rather brief.. –could hear the baby’s heartbeat, which was very special..  J  it was fast and strong.. –the baby room is now cleared out, and we’ll be painting it soon..

1-6-06 nina doctor appt. went very well (again), no issues.. –they took blood to check for major diseases, etc.. –we’ll know the results next visit.. –we also got to hear the heartbeat again, and it was very strong.. J  in fact, I video-taped the visit, and have the heartbeat recorded too.. –I emailed that video clip out to much of our families..

1-8-06 we finished painting the baby room the other day, and today we finished assembling the baby dresser, changing table, and crib, and then we put all the baby clothes & stuff into the furniture.. J  we then took a few pix, and also made another video of the room, and emailed those out to much of the family..  –nina’s doing great, but still has a lot of headaches.. –the doctor says it’s normal tho.. –we’ll add pix and a boarder to the baby room in the next few months.. J

1-27-06 well, nina’s been feeling so much better in the last few weeks, no headaches, etc.. –the baby room is getting more and more organized, and we thank aunt melissa dearly for the care packages, including all the matching “precious moments” items.. –thanks too, to mom for all the support as well.. J  this weekend, we plan to hang the mobile, wall pictures, small shelves, and other stuff.. –nina’s now 5 months pregnant.. –all blood results came back fine, and no diseases, etc. –next baby doctor appt. is 2-2-06..

1-31-06 nina called me at work today, to tell me the baby had been kicking her very hard !!  there were 5-6 hard kicks, and nina was so shocked and yet happy to feel that.. –indeed, we’re both very excited about that, and had been anxious to finally feel any movement !!  J

2-2-06 nina felt more kicks today, and it’s so exciting to feel those..  J  the baby doctor appt. went very well this morning –everything seems to be on track so far, so that’s great.. –again, I filmed the doctor as she had the heart monitor on the baby, and recorded the heartbeat.. –I emailed that out to close relatives, as I wanted to share the love.. –nina’s still feeling very good, no pain, headaches, etc.. –next appt. is in 4 weeks, then 3 weeks after, then 2 weeks after that, as the Big Day approaches..  J

2-4-06 we still don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, and likely won’t know until the Big Day, approx. 6-18-06.. –so, we’ve finally decided on names: If it’s a girl, it will be: Destiny Ray Henness (nina’s last name is Ray, and she’s the last Ray to carry the name on).. –we love the name Destiny, as it is such a pure name, and a name with deep meaning. If it’s a boy, it will be: Bryce Ager Henness (my step-dad’s last name is Ager, and he’s the last to carry the name on -he raised me since I was 6, and is a super guy !!).. –and Bryce is just a cool name.. –of course, we might change everything in these last few months, but that’s where we’re at.. –and, if we have a second child later on, we’d like to use the other name (whichever wasn’t used on the first child).. –anyways, goodbye !!    J

2-27-06 we were married today !!  -the wedding went perfect, and there was so much love between us, and with all of the family.. –much love for Mom and all of her tremendous efforts, love, and support for the wedding.. –I have a website for the wedding here: http://members.aol.com/Catsview/wedding   J

3-3-06 nina’s baby appt. went great, no issues.. –heard the heartbeat, and also tested nina for sugar levels, and other blood stuff, but everything's on track so far !!   J

4-1-06 next baby appt. is 4-13-06, and they will be more and more frequent now that she’s at 7 months.. –so far, everything is on track, and no complications –so we’re EXTREMELY happy about that.. –nina’s still holding up very well, and is a very strong person.. –I’m so proud of her.. –the baby’s kicks are getting stronger, and of course, nina’s still getting bigger.. –the baby room is 98% done, so we’re on track.. –much love to all our family for the love and support !! J

4-13-06 the baby doctor appt. went very well.. –checked heartbeat, nina’s blood, etc., and everything is on track..  J next appointment is 4-28-06, and they will be occurring more frequently now.. –I hung the baby border in the room (click here for pix), and nina’s been getting everything else in the room situated, and even washed all the baby clothes (to get the chemicals out).. –nina’s tummy is still getting bigger & bigger !!

4-22-06 nina’s work friends threw nina a wonderful baby shower today, and nina had a lot of fun.. –was nina’s very first baby shower, so was all a new experience for her.. –lots of fun & laughs, played several fun games, everyone won prizes, delicious food, and also rec’d some extremely nice gifts –way too many to list here.. –nina wanted me to express our appreciation for all the time & efforts from them.. –and thank you cards are in the mail !!   J

4-23-06 tomorrow is the 8 month date for baby, and so we’ll get another monthly pix of nina.. –of course, she’s “showing” quite a bit now, and everyone is asking if she’s already 9 months.. –we often see the baby moving & kicking in her tummy, and is so precious to see that.. –we can see the baby pushing the tummy all over, and is truly amazing to see –and sometimes is very, very hard kicking..   J   nina has been a super mommy, going about her normal things around the house and errands.. –definitely a super trooper !!  I’ve been catering to her more and more, and look forward to taking care of the baby once s/he arrives, and allow nina plenty of time to relax & sleep..  J   I suppose the baby room is now complete, as we have all the things needed for a happy arrival (except for diapers).. –much love to both our families for all the love & support for the preparations and baby items.. –I really can’t show enough appreciation..  J   Friday, we received a very comfortable rocker chair for mommy & baby, so that will be incredibly useful, and also received a very nice car seat a week ago, both from nina’s aunt Melissa.. –so hard to thank everyone for each item, but is so very much appreciated !!

4-28-06 nina’s baby doctor appt. went great, and everything checked out fine..  J   we’ve been worried tho, about the positioning, the cord, and other things -and have been dying for an ultrasound to rest our minds.. –but the doctor said the insurance won’t pay for it, due to the fact that she sees no medical reason to have it –and is not recommending it.. –well, nina scheduled an ultrasound for the same day, and went and had that done..  J   we now have eight(8) beautiful pix of our baby boy, who’s name is: Bryce Ager Henness.. –as far as we can tell from all the pix, he looks great and don’t see any problems..  J   I have scanned and added those new pix into the baby website for all to see –and had emailed the pix to family a few days previous.. –the doctor did slide the due date up 4 days, so the new due date is now: 6-13-06.. –the doctor said the heartbeat is still very strong, and is still measuring perfectly on schedule, and that everything seems fine.. –we’re obviously EXTREMELY grateful for that..  J   (click here for the new ultrasound pix).

6-1-06 nina’s having baby doctor appointments sooner and sooner.. –she’s now at once a week.. –we’ve been blessed, with no problems or issues during the pregnancy, so we’re incredibly happy about that.. –and so, each appt. during the last month has been short & sweet, with no problems.. –the baby’s down in position (head between the pelvic bones), and is still kicking and moving a lot.. –no dilation, as of 2 days ago, but I suppose that comes next..   J   nina’s still getting bigger and bigger, and has had very swollen feet.. –so, she’s following the doctor’s orders.. –we just took the 9 month picture, and I added that to the picture page here: http://members.aol.com/JMHenness/baby/pix.htm The baby room is all ready for Bryce’s arrival, and we’re both extremely excited about The Big Day.. –lots and lots of family will be here from both sides, so it’ll be great to see everyone again.. –keep watching this website, because you KNOW I’ll take ten thousand beautiful pix of our baby, and display them proudly in my websites..  J   much love to everyone, and thank you for all the support and positive vibes !!

6-7-06 thru 6-12-06 nina had a baby doctor appt. this morning, and everything checked out great !!  -as a matter of fact, the doctor said “it’s time” –and asked us to drive directly to the hospital, check in, get a room, and “let’s get this show on the road !!”  hours later, after slight inducing, nina began labor.. –had about 12 hrs. of labor, changing positions, and lots of things to help.. –got up to 5 cm dilation, and doctor advised a c-section, which we agreed to.. –not long afterwards, I was called into the OR and was able to be there for the birth of our beautiful son !!  Nina & Bryce are both doing great –no problems at all..   J   I was allowed to sit near nina’s head during birth, although there was a curtain, so I could only see from shoulders and up.. –I was told to stand up, and saw as the doctor pulled Bryce from Nina’s tummy.. –what a beautiful thing !!  I was then handed the baby, and walked him over to the nurse, and she did a thorough exam.. –meanwhile, they finished up with nina’s stitches & staples, and we all went back upstairs..  Bryce was born 6-8-06, at approx. 7:49pm.. –the vital stat’s are: 6 lbs., 12.5 oz, & 20”..   J   yesterday, Bryce was circumcised, and we all came home several hours later, around 2:00 pm in our new van. Nina’s grandmother and aunt Sandra came up, as well as my parents for the spur-of-the-moment event.. (due date was a week away).. –the family support has been TREMENDOUS, and we surely appreciate that support more than words can say.. –friends and co-workers for us both, have also been super, and we truly thank everyone for all the love, support, patience, and wonderful gifts & flowers..   J   we obviously have tons of pix of the Event, and will share many of the pix here in this website as time permits.. –family will, of course, receive cd’s of all the pix, and also all 35 video clips, etc..  –need to run, as Bryce is now demanding attention !!  Much Love,  -jim   J
