UPDATE - APRIL 2008

The
NEW Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
The forced amalgamation of Maroochy, Noosa and Caloundra into one Super
Council should have resulted in providing enough funds to finally begin
construction of an E/W Runway
But - Guess What? They still can't afford it!!!!
|
| So
- When WILL they be able to afford it? |
- Just DON'T HOLD YOUR
BREATH! |
UPDATE - DECEMBER 2007

|
Merry
Xmas from Singapore.
Singapore Airlines starts it's cut throat er...price
air services into the Sunshine Coast just in time for Xmas.
At least it's not the Direct Flights from Singapore that it
had planned.
For the time being,
they'll have to bring their tourists down from Cairns.
|

|
This Month Jet
Flights have hit a new Record High.
We are now up to 76 Ear-splitting Take-offs a week, and when Tiger gets
into gear with flights from Cairns it will soon be well over 100

UPDATE - SEPT. 2007 -
The Master Plan is ACCEPTED
CLICK for the NEWS CLIP
|
|
Maroochy Council have voted
on the 2007 Master Plan
The GOOD NEWS is -
They are NOT planning to Extend the Existing N/S Runway 18/36
The BAD NEWS is
- It won't be built for another 15 Years and;
It's the 13/31 Version which means Aircraft will still fly over Houses
instead
of the 11/29 Version which was OUR Preference which DIDN'T overfly ANY
Houses
But Hey! - 15 Years is a L O N G
Time - That's another 2 Master Plans away (1 every 7 years)
We will have had 4 changes in Administration by then. Different
Politicians will be in power.
The present Bureaucrats will all be retired and replaced by the present
Junior Staff or new recruits
who won't remember this decision - or - won't feel obliged to be bound
by it.
AND
The COST will have EXPLODED by a factor of X10 or X20 times the Present
- Hell! - Council can't afford the Present Cost even NOW
(Take a look at Past History)
The ONLY way we will ever get an East/West Runway will be if the Other
Sunshine Coast Councils help PAY the COST! - And they have
already REFUSED to do this;
SO - The ONLY way it will EVER Happen is;
The State Government SUCCEEDS in forcing the different Councils to
AMALGAMATE and, they COMMENCE CONSTRUCTION IMMEDIATELY!
|
And why
have they adopted the 13/31 location
instead of our 11/29?
The reason given is that the 11/29
location infringes upon a newly created NATIONAL PARK.

Coolum News had THIS
Announcement on Page 4 |
Not
exactly HEADLINES eh? This IMPORTANT News was largely
IGNORED by our Un-sympathetic, Pro-Development Media.
And the Regional Newspaper "The DAILY" didn't even give it a mention at
all. Which is par for their course - They have carefully avoided
ANY Anti-Airport News for the whole campaign and have only ever printed
enflamitory remarks and letters to the editor which were hurtful or
harmful to our plight.
Personally, I will Believe it when I SEE it!
We have been down THIS Road before (Like 7
years ago) and there is a Council Election
coming up soon. I don't think the Puppeteers
have given up just yet. We may have won this skirmish,
but until the East/West Runway is actually BUILT the Powerful People in
charge will continue working behind the scenes to achieve their goals.

For A SOLUTION by AIRWIZ that
would WORK
The
Public Consultation Period Ended on 14/8/06
At the LAST Meeting on
9/8/06, Mayor Joe Natoli told guests that it was his responsibility to
ensure that The Airport was developed to
it's limit as a viable business unit of
the Council. That's why He was
Elected.
But THAT's NOT SO! -
They DON'T have a MANDATE, or an OBLIGATION to persist with
ANY Airport upgrades whatsoever.
However they DO have
a RESPONSIBILITY to the Residents of the Sunshine Coast NOT to
endanger their Lives or Lifestyles merely to appease the wishes and
increase the profits for of the very FEW
who would reap the benefits from this morally corrupt and despicable
venture. Like it or not, the people who chose to live in the
vicinity of the airport are still counted as Sunshine Coast
Residents (not
merely Pawns in some hideous Monopoly Game)
and it matters not that a
Councilor was elected by his little band of
supporters in Mudjimba or Buderim or anywhere else, he still has a
RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that their RIGHTS are DEFENDED.
Yes - Perhaps we should have known when we built here 30 years ago,
that the Landing Field would develop into an Airport,
and perhaps the then Mayor Eddie Devere should have told us THAT when we asked?
And perhaps Don Culley should have known that his little Air Field
would be developed into an International
Airport.
And perhaps some time in the future, know-alls will say that Joe Natoli
should have known that his International Airport would become the
Target for International TERRORISTS? -
It would be great if we could all predict the Future like some wise
people who live in Buderim and write scornful letters to the News
Papers. But we weren't blessed with your wisdom or forethought,
so cut us some slack mate. Hey! - We could use a bit of the good
ol' Aussie Support, instead of your bloody Wise Cracks!
