Leaving and Applying for the Protective Order

« Leaving and Applying for the Protective Order. »

I left Thomas Wayne Watts Jr., on approximately August 10, 2003. I went to a hotel with our son Severn Watts. I called to inform Tommy our marriage was over due to the abuse. He wanted Severn for the weekend. I agreed, as his abuse toward Severn was only Severn seeing the way he treated me. When it was time for him to return Severn in a mutual public place he refused, told me if I didn't go home with him he was taking Severn. I went home with him only to leave a few days later with our son. He once again ask if he could see Severn, I felt I couldn't deny him this as my daughters were kept from me for some time due to Tommy's behavior not mine and I didn't want to do the same thing to my son. We meet at a public place. That Sunday his mother Carroll Jo Watts called and briefly told me, Tommy was not returning Severn. Tommy continued to harass me and chase me around town. I couldn't leave my house without him waiting in the bushes. I filed a protective order with the help of Wendi Floyd-Bailey at the Hays County Crisis Center. Tommy would sporadically let me see Severn but it was always a battle between us. He wanted to continue our marriage. After filing for the protective order I wasn't allowed to go near him either nor did I feel safe in doing so, Carroll Jo Watts would not help in any way me seeing Severn. I was advised for my safety to not go to their home. In addition, since no custody had been established we both had equal rights to Severn.

Finally we were to be heard for the protective order, but now Carroll Jo Watts had become involved and the Watts filed for the first of three continuances.

Copy of Continuance

During the time they continued to file these continuances they allowed me no contact with my son.

Continuance number two

Before the third continuance I was taken in the D.A.'s office were he handed me pictures of my son and love letters from my estranged husband> The D.A. ask me if I wanted to drop the protective order. With the support of Wendi Floyd-Bailey I said no.

Continuance Number three is filed....

After this continuance I was ask through a mutual friend and Tommy himself who wasn't obeying the temporary protective order to drop the protective order. He told me if I didn't "his mother was going to get involved, and I wouldn't like that". Another Continuance is filed. While I am waiting to be heard by the Judge I am served with Divorce Papers. In addition, Tommy and his Mom are asking for custody. One of their largest points is the amount of time they have had Severn.

Copy of the Divorce Notice

We are now going to have the custody and protective order all rolled into one.
