There are many web sites containing plenty of resources on Indian classical music. You can find your own. However, I have put here some selected sites where I frequently visit to know something about Indian classical music.

WIKIPEDIA: The Free Encyclopedia

This site contains huge documentations on Indian Classical Music. You can find articles regarding its origin, classifications, different Ragas, insturments and many more details about Hindusthani music from north India and Carnatic music from south India. There is also a discussion section where you can contribute your own. All the articles and informations available here are under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.

ITC - Sangeet Research Academy

A nice web site on Hindusthani classical music. You can learn more about different Ragas with their appropriate timings and supporting clips. You can also have your own music room to listen your favourites.

Indian Classical Music Resources:

A page maintained by an Indian music performer and teacher based in Dubai. Know more from a teacher.

Carnatic Music

This web site is devoted to Carnatic music from south India. They intend this to be the best reference for carnatic music on the web.
Patrick Moutal's Indian Music page

A page maintained by a French artist who studied Hindusthani classical music (Siter) from Baranas Hindu University (BHU), India. Anybody who visited his page must appreciate his effort. You can find here lots of free downloadable vedio, mp3 of both vocal and instrumental. There is also a photo gallery with a large number of photos of Indian classical artists.

Asian Classical Music

Along with other Asian countries you can find a section from India. There are some selected mp3 recorded from live programmes performed by our famous classical artists. Great to have all other classical musics in a single page along with our own. This page is hosted by "ibilio - the public's library and digital archieve".

An introduction to Indian classical music. This site includes historical development and also some technical aspects of different Ragas in simple way. Need to buy some music CDs - they will help you.
