CHRISTI SIMUS NON NOSTRO
Mood:  chillin'
Topic: SAINT COLUMBAN

" Let us be Christ's not our own." ---Saint Columban was born in Iceland at the sixth century AD, between 540-550, In spite of his mother's odjection he entered the monastery in Bangor, Northern Iceland, He become a monk, to vow of stability that is; they do not leave the monastery, But Columban felt a call to missionary work so he asked permission to teach out to other lands. Given permission, he left Bangor and crossed to England, to Gaul countries of Frankland, to Switzerland and Italy, He established monasteries in these places, He spread the Gospel and he taught people how to work in the fields, He was very strick, a desciplinarian but the same time he had a great love to God's creatures, Birds, animals sensed his gentleness and would come to him. He was both a missionary and a comtemplative, a man of action. He ws a poet a writer and was very learned. He was fearless ans was unbending before the threats of barbaric kings, but of the tenderness of his heart for the tough, the unlettered, the poor, they learned his secret of the gentle Christ. Princess Aquirah Letter For Ivan Nadelmann Charlottenlund Denmark Hi how are you? I never had a chance scanning this St. Columban image since 2003 upon My arrival, My last visit in the convent was during our Batch reunion 2004 and I got only the chance to photograph it through cellphone, But today one of their missionary had finally visit me in my busy Boutique and they offered me to come with them so i can have a good glance to the King Edward VIII favorite Saint. This is embedded anciently painted in a rose stone. It was a gift of the King/Duke of Windsor and The Duke of Kent upon the founding of the Pagadian Cathedral and Saint Columban College , A prysbetherian Exclusive School. The stone was carefully cared by the missionaries and the picture of Saint Columban is still look freash as has been new. The missionary said that the Duke had purposely travel this image here in Pagadian for his immidiate family remembrance.
