'What Lies Beneath?'

This last job we have just finished was quite the challenge, not unlike most projects we take on in this area. Also not unlike most we have uncovered some problems in doing so, even some major ones.
This job started out simply in a very large room framing a hallway, a separate room, a new bathroom, a closet and moving door openings and such. One problem we have encountered when removing some existing sheetrock was (faulty) wiring that was joined together outside of a junction box. This is very dangerous and can create a fire, and almost did.
Another problem we faced was when we tried to connect the new plumbing to the existing we have uncovered major water & termite damage. We also found that the existing shower drain wasn't even connected dumping all the waste water directly under the house.
Every home no matter where it was build has some things that may not be right. Fortunately most of which are usually cosmetic and easily fixed. This area, however, we have encountered more severe problems that fall more so towards negligence on the parts of the 'so called' contractors in this area. The biggest problem with this is they are usually virtually undetectable until there's a problem or if you decide to renovate. Fortunate for our client she called us and we were able to solve the problems we have encountered.
