DECKS by ALL WORK

This very large Deck was also built in the late 1990s using Western Red Cedar. Cedar is excellent for building decks in that Cedar has a natural defense against wood eating bugs & rotting. Cedar is very light and looks and smells wonderful when constructed. The only real draw back is it's price. Good rule of thumb when creating your Deck budget is Pressure Treated material is the cheapest, then Cedar, then Composite. (Learn More about materials)

DECK CONSTRUCTION: One of the biggest problems we face as a company in the area is the lack of building code enforcement. In a world where jobs usually are won by the lowest price, cutting corners in the construction phase unfortunately is common and very dangerous.

An estimated 90% of Decks constructed in this area are not built following the national standards. Deck builders that do not follow National Building Codes, also know as BOCO, build structures that can become unsafe or even be in danger of a catastrophic collapse.

Until the proper building education becomes available and better code enforcement takes place, unfortunately, the burden of making sure your structure is built correctly falls in the hands of the homeowners.

We have provided a Self Inspection check list for homeowners that can help aid when hiring a contractor or when inspecting a Deck already built. If you believe that you have an unsafe Deck or structure, contact us immediately. We are here to help and don't mind offering our professional opinion at no charge.
