ABOUT THE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT

Today, it’s a big concern that in the great social commotion for the lake of solution to the social problems that are affecting to our society, the topic of the capital punishment becomes a big deal. There are lots of situations that need urgent attention, for example the execution of the recommendations of the “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” One of them is the compensation of the Government to the thousands of family’s victims of the violence and the terrorism. The death hurt badly them in a merciless way. However, they continued been ignored. Now, the proposal is more death in our society that is trying to heal his wounds.

The point of view of the Divine Creation is the life as a gift of God so, the Church is called to defend and protect it beyond any ideological, social or political position. The responsibility of every Christian believer is to promote the fullness of the life of people regardless their social condition. Even, the poor sectors that suffer the social violence and every day are dying in life without any help to improve their situation, especially of the politicians that are in the government.

For that reason, the capital punishment is an easy position in front of the weakness to solve the real social problems that cause the social and sexual violence in our society. The "sexual perverts" are the most evident expression of a moral problem of our society, that is living against the principles and Christian values. In this case, it is unacceptable that a group of people that say they are Christians decide to eliminate the life, a precious gift of God, no matter the mistake. For that, the legislation already has anticipated corrective actions that need to be put in practice urgently. I consider that the capital punishment is a new smoke screen that distracts the solution of the real problems of our society.

If we accepted the capital punishment as an appropriate way to solve the problems, we are denying the power of Christ to redeem, and transform to all the human beings. When the governments adopt the capital punishment, the life of the guilty person will be frustrated without a possibility to have a change of lifestyle, without a possibility to the regret and pardon. We would be denying a Biblical principle that points that we shall not commit murder, whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court, (Mathew 5:21).

For that reason, our protest must be against the capital punishment and rather to promote the defense of the life. If someone attempt against this must be punished according to the current laws. Proclaim every time and place that every human being is value and sacred. We all together look for the reduction of the crime of people and innocent children, through the current laws. Finally, I am with all the people that demand the defense of the life. May God of the life rid us to attempt against the life of other human being, wanting with that action take the place of God.
