Blue Angels Flight Team Page 2

Lined Up, ready to Go

There are actually 7 planes, number 7 being an F/A-18B type. The type B is a converted twin seater, mainly so that they can bring up a special passenger, like the weather man for my local CBS station. The pilot did manage to make him black out during the flight. I would like to take a momemnt to remember the two Blue Angels killed in the #7 plane on October 28, 1999, during a training landing at Moody Air Force Base in Gerogia. I'd also like to remember the 21 other Blue Angel members killed since 1946 when they were formed. Please click here for more information.

Pre-Show photos...

This shot is kinda bad, taken by my less powerful APS camera, as opposed to dad's Pentax. But instead of going to my freshman orientation (boring!!), Daddy took me over to the airport to catch a glimpse of the Team. They were parked just beyond the west tie down, where my plane is parked, so we had a key to enter through that gate (right past the people in the minivan watching through the fence:). We slowly walked out to where they were (past what, 3 sheriffs?), and got some good photograohs, only you don't get to see the good ones. Not yet anyway. Finally the flash on my camera called another Sheriff over and we decided it was time to leave. We did get to find out that #2 was having engine problems, and they were doing LOUD engine run ups. It was phenominal.

This wasn't taken at the show...But it's an awesome picture from about 10 years ago. Doesn't it make you want to sing the Star Spangled Banner?
